Islamic Emirate: The Successes of Operation Azm

Capture-1

Post via Islamic Emirate

Since launching the auspicious Operation named ‘Azm’ (Resolve) the Mujahideen have taking great strides in securing large swathes of territory from the foreign occupiers and their native militias. They have pushed the corrupt forces of Ashraf Ghani and his foreign backers out of many territories and replaced that corrupt administration with the Islamic Emirate’s governance services which are inspired and guided by the transparency and accountability instilled in Islamic Law.

Last year’s military Operation differed from the previous ones since in prior years the Mujahideen limited themselves to conducting guerrilla warfare revolving around hit-and-run tactics. In Operation Azm however, they expanded their role by incorporating frontal large scale attacks and counter-attacks in their tactics.

As a result of these large scale frontal attacks the Mujahideen were able to grab and hold large territories including provincial districts and even provincial centers.

The Mujahideen captured the entire districts of Nawa and Khugyani in Ghazni province. They also captured Jurm, Wardug, and Baharak districts in Badakhshan, as well as Darqad and Yangi Qala districts in Takhar. In Baghlan they captured Dushi, Nahreen and many villages and military installations close to Puli Khumri in the center of the province.

Similarly they captured Konduz city as well as the outlying districts of Dasht Archi, Chardara, Imam Saheb, Ali abad, Gor Tepa and Tilawak. During these victories they captured large amounts of military and logistical equipment.

In the south they captured Nawzad, Musa Qala, Sangin, Babaji, and Marja districts in Helmand. Additionally they captured the suburban areas of many other districts in this province while leaving the centers in the hands of the enemy.

In the west they captured Khwaja Musa, Almas, Qisar, Astana Baba districts in addition to other outlying areas in the province of Faryab. In Badghis they captured Ghormach and Jwand districts while inflicting heavy losses to the enemy. In Farah province they completely captured the districts of Bala Baluk, Gulistan and Khaki Safid as well as many other peripheral areas.

In the center of Afghanistan they captured the districts of Khas Uruzgan, Charchino, and Dehrawud in Uruzgan province. In addition they also brought many outlying areas of the province under their control.

Mujahideen were also able to wrest and hold territories in the provinces of Kandahar, Kunar, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Logar, Khost, Paktika, Paktia, Daykundi as well as other provinces. In all the areas under their control they removed the shackles of the corrupt Kabul administration and replaced them with accountable government institutions represented by the white flag of the Islamic Emirate.

On top of these frontal attacks aimed at holding territory the Mujahideen continued with their tried methods of insurgent attacks inflicting heavy financial and human losses to the enemy in Kabul, Parwan, Kandahar and other areas.

While traditionally winter has brought a lull in the fighting yet the Mujahideen broke with this tradition as well by extending their operations well beyond the summer months. The fervor and pace of their fighting has left the enemy with little respite. Even in these cold months they fear losing whole provinces to the Mujahideen fighters. We pray to Allah that the coming months will bring even more victories to the holy warriors blossoming the flower of the Islamic government over the entire country.

Ameen

Starving Madaya: UK must drop food parcels not bombs… do we want another Siege of Leningrad?

CYR0d-CW8AA1Sy5

How long before food reaches this malnourished boy? (Image, via Sophie McNeil)

What has happened that a person can look at a photo of a seriously malnourished child and greet such a disturbing image with mocking and abuse? How low can people go? Compassion has been replaced by callousness. Trolling and taunting starving people in Syria with pictures of feasts can only be described as perverted. As the Independent highlighted,

Supporters of the Syrian regime are sharing photos of their dinners to taunt thousands of starving civilians in a besieged town.

The hashtag #متضامن_مع_حصار_مضايا, meaning “solidarity with the siege of Madaya”, has sparked a new wave of outrage over the continuing crisis, with those using it condemned as “sadistic” and “unbelievably disgusting”.

An earlier article detailed the suffering of the Syrian people can be seen on the following link,

“Misery of Madaya, Foah, Kefraya: Starving, eating family pets and grass, Syrian government will now open routes for UN aid”

https://activist1.wordpress.com/2016/01/07/misery-of-madaya-foah-kefraya-starving-eating-family-pets-and-grass-syrian-government-will-now-open-routes-for-un-aid/

I cannot bear to post the images of indulgent banquets. Instead lets consider what its like to go for a prolonged period without food.

A person begins to starve when the body expends more energy than it takes in, they have bouts of impulsivity, irritability, hyperactivity. Catabolysis begins when body starts to break down its own muscles and other tissues in order to keep vital systems such as the nervous system and heart muscle from functioning. The body becomes dehydrated. Vitamin deficiency can lead to conditions such as anaemia and scurvy other problems include diarrhoea, skin rashes, edema (swelling of body tissue)  painful limbs, difficulty in swallowing and the heart becomes at risk. Eventually a person become too weak too move, periods cease in women and they are unable to carry a foetus or feed a baby.

Starvation during the Siege of Leningrad

In 2011 the Daily Mail (Mail Online) featured an article on the Siege of Leningrad during the Second World War when the German army cut off the city for 900 days from September, 1941 to January, 1944 causing the deaths of 800,000 people, nearly a third of the population. It was a city starving to death. This gives an idea of how bad things can get during a time of conflict. An excerpt reads as follows:-

“Over a million children and dependants were still in the city when the ring closed. In all there were 3.3 million mouths to feed.

Quite soon the bread ration had to be halved. By mid-November manual workers received 250 grams a day, the rest only half of that. But the bread had been adulterated with pine shavings. So people were existing (or failing to) on 400, even 300 calories.

Pet owners swapped cats in order to avoid eating their own. There wasn’t a dog to be seen. Only the zoo preserved its star attractions, like ‘Beauty’ the hippopotamus, with special rations of hay.

People searched desperately for substitute food. Cottonseed cake (usually burned in ships’ boilers), ‘macaroni’ made from flax seed for cattle, ‘meat jelly’ produced from boiling bones and calf skins, ‘yeast soup’ from fermented sawdust, joiners’ glue boiled and jellified, toothpaste, cough mixture and cold cream – anything that contained calories. They even licked the dried paste off the wallpaper.”

It did not end there… cases of cannibalism were recorded. Corpses were stolen from graveyards, amputated limbs snatched from operating theatres, “mothers smothered very young children to feed their older ones.”

Full article can be read on the following link,

Are we prepared to let what happened in Leningrad happen again in Madaya?

What you can do to help…Petition for British air force to drop food aid to Syria

Although the Syrian government had agreed to allow aid convoys through there has already been a delay. The BBC reports, “an aid convoy (World Food Programme) which was due to reach a besieged Syrian village on Sunday has been delayed by last-minute hitches.” It is not now due to arrive until Monday, that may be too late for some…

People in Britain want our government to help starving Syrians and drop food parcels not bombs. As expected the government is resisting with pathetic excuses see following article,

“If the RAF can’t drop food to Madaya in Syria we shouldn’t bother having an air force at all”

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/12091006/If-the-RAF-cant-drop-food-to-Madaya-in-Syria-we-shouldnt-bother-having-an-air-force-at-all.html

So far over 23, 700 people have signed a petition calling on the government to allow the RAF to parachute in aid (as they did in Mount Sinjar in northern Iraq in 2014)… your name can be added on the link below to keep up the pressure,

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/117658%20%20Petition

The callous trolls on social media have given only images of food to taunt those who are starving in Syria, lets at least try to get some real food to the people!

Yemen: Reports of “cluster bombs”, concerns over alleged “war crimes”… where is the accountability?

CYQvQsIW8AAIN0k

Clear photo but who will identify the weapon? (Image via Nasser Arrabyee)

The images are coming through thick and fast on social media of alleged cluster bombs being used on civilian areas of Yemen… so how difficult can it be to check out and identify what is being used with activists on the ground in Yemen… and who is responsible?

Human Rights Watch, a founding member of the Cluster Munition Coalition and contributes to its annual Cluster Munition Monitor report, states,

“cluster munitions pose an immediate threat to civilians during conflict by randomly scattering submunitions or bomblets over a wide area. They continue to pose a threat post-conflict by leaving remnants, including submunitions that fail to explode upon impact becoming de facto landmines. The 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions prohibits the use, production, transfer, and stockpiling of cluster munitions. It also requires destruction of stockpiles, clearance of areas contaminated by remnants, and victim assistance. More than 115 states have joined the Convention on Cluster Munitions and are working to implement its provisions.”

Therefore there is an urgent need to investigate the Saudi and Coalition bombing of Yemen, the nature of the weapons and who is supplying the munitions. It is ESSENTIAL that Yemen’s government “gives more time to review the relationship with UN human rights office” and allows George Abu-Zulof, head of the Yemen office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to carry out his work examining what looks remarkably like a “war crime.” What justification could possible be used for bombing a school/centre for the blind, this is surely an indiscriminate act?

Yahoo reported, U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric on Friday who said,

“the U.N. chief expressed deep concern at the “intensification” of airstrikes by the U.S.-supported coalition and warned that the reported use of cluster bombs in populated areas could amount to a war crime”

CYOeplPW8AEAJLlNasser Arrabyee, Yemeni Journalist, Film-maker (Yemen Alaan, meaning Yemen now ) has once again tweeted a series of clear images showing munitions dropped on Yemen.

Zayed A Al-Mutawakel, International relations student tweeted,

Only weapon Yemeni civilians can use against the airstrikes are their keyboards and 140 characters

Ken Roth, Executive Director, Human Rights Watch posted,

Yemen may not like UN reporting cluster-bomb use but it happened:

Jamila Hanan posted several photos of a bombing and wanted to know

Was there British intelligence behind this precise targeting?

Britain appears to have a very active role in supporting Saudi Arabia.

CYMp1M3W8AAl6bh

Luckily my friend made it out from under rubble at 5am when jets rock his house  (Caption on photo)

I tweeted Alexandra Hiniker who describes herself on Twitter as “mostly Syria, Iraq, South Sudan, disarmament for at UN. Into cluster bomb and landmine bans after time in Lebanon, Laos, Cambodia. Views mine, etc”. I sent my articles on Yemen and asked her “any good at identifying alleged cluster bombs Yemen? Some photos here”? So far no response… well we can live in hope, can’t we…

I also tweeted Jeff Abramson, “international humanitarian disarmament and arms control expert with skills including policy development and advocacy, project management and leadership, research and editing, resource development, and media relations” with some photos of alleged cluster bomb injuries and also of Yemenis protesting the bombing of their school for the blind. Wonder if he will respond?

The organization Stop Killer Robots actually blocked me before on Twitter for asking challenging questions on drone strikes over Yemen and Pakistan so better not build my hopes too much regarding organizations responding to cluster bombs! Some will only go so far and support a “ticking off” rather than criminal charges.

Meanwhile….another day, another cluster bomb and the suffering continues!

UK police ‘training Saudi forces’, despite rise in executions (Reprieve statement)

British police have trained hundreds of Saudi officers in the last four years, a BBC investigation has found.

A Freedom of Information response from the UK College of Policing has revealed that, since the body’s founding in 2012, some 270 officers have been brought from Saudi Arabia to the UK for “specialist training”, under a £2.7 million deal that also saw 26 British police officers deployed to Saudi Arabia to train police.

The news comes amid serious concerns over a rise in executions and other human rights abuses by Saudi forces, including the use of torture to extract ‘confessions.’ Human rights organization Reprieve has established that in the past year, while the training was being provided, the number of people executed by the Saudi authorities rose sharply – from some 88 in 2014 to at least 158 last year. Last weekend, the Saudi authorities staged a mass execution of 47 prisoners, at least four of whom were convicted for their involvement in political protests.

Reprieve’s research has also shown that the vast majority (72%) of those currently on death row in Saudi Arabia were convicted of non-lethal crimes, such as political protests. Among those awaiting execution are three juveniles – Ali al-Nimr, Dawoud al-Marhoon and Abdullah al-Zaher – who were arrested at 2012 protests, and tortured into ‘confessions’ that were used to convict them in secretive trials.

Reprieve has previously raised concerns over the government’s Overseas Security and Justice Assistance policy, which does not require ministers to reveal the details of assistance to foreign security forces. Ministers are currently refusing to publish existing agreements between the Saudi government and the Home Office, and the Ministry of Justice.

The College of Policing admitted that its training was part of a deal to provide services “in the MENA region”, and noted that it carries out a formal human rights risk assessment “for countries where Human Rights compliance is of concern.” However, it did not confirm whether such an assessment had been undertaken in this case, or whether it had been signed off by a minister.

This morning, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond faced criticism over the UK’s close relationship with Saudi Arabia. Asked by the BBC’s Today programme for his view on Saturday’s executions, he claimed that the 47 executed were ‘convicted terrorists’. In fact, they included at least four people who were arrested in the wake of political protests, and tried in highly secretive conditions.

Commenting, Maya Foa, head of the death penalty team at Reprieve, said: “The Home Office has serious questions to answer over the relationship between British police and Saudi forces, who are responsible for serious human rights abuses such as torture. Given that the Saudis are executing record numbers of people – including political protestors who were tortured and convicted in secret courts, some when they were just teenagers – the government’s refusal to reveal details of its cooperation with the Saudis is totally unacceptable. The Home Secretary must explain urgently why they are risking UK complicity with these terrible abuses.”

Islamic State claim responsibility for truck bomb in Zliten Libya which killed over 50 people at a police base

Islamic State (IS) have released a statement claiming responsibility for a truck bomb at the al-Jahfal training camp Zliten, Libya on Thursday which killed over 50 at the police base, injuring a further 118 people. Wilayat Trablous were named as the group responsible. IS says it also carried out another attack on the same day at the oil port of Ras Lanuf, which killed seven people.

New York Times reported, “the attackers drove a water truck filled with explosives through the camp’s gates before detonating the explosives in the camp’s yard, which was packed with cadets” according to security officer Capt. Adel Erhoma.

The BBC highlighted a Libyan media statement that said, “hundreds of recruits were outside performing morning exercises when the centre was targeted” pointing out that the incident “comes against the backdrop of intensified attacks this week carried out by IS militants near Libya’s eastern oil ports.”

IS now governs Sirte, the city on Libya’s Mediterranean coast which has led to neighbouring Tunisia building a security wall along one third of its border in an effort to protect the country. As well as an eye on controlling the oilfields, IS is also focused on taking their fight to Rome see following article on growth of Islamic State in the region,

There was dismay and anger at what some Libyans saw as indifference to the country’s suffering in relation to the latest attack.

Karim Ibrahim posted a tweet saying,

Can’t seem to understand why no one is batting an eye over this. 47 dead and an attack on the future of Libya

Mary Fitzgerald who reports and researches in Libya tweeted,

Much anger & resentment on social media over perception yday’s IS bombing which killed 50+ Libyans barely made dent on world’s radar

The Kingdom of Morocco released its response via the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in a statement on Friday saying it

“strongly condemns this criminal act and expresses its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and wishes of speedy recovery to the injured.”

Islamic State claim responsibility for tourist bus attack in Cairo, highlight bombing of IS madrassa and warn media on reporting

Cairo-hotel-attack4

(Image via Independent)

Islamic Emirate affiliate have released a statement in Arabic claiming responsibility for an attack which targeted a bus meant to transport Israeli Arabs. The statement from IS was posted on social media sites used by the group with the words “for those who say IS is Israeli agent, we have done attack on bus on Israeli people.” The incident took place in the vicinity of the Three Pyramids Hotel near to the Giza pyramids, Egypt, where gunmen on motorcycles opened fire damaging the vehicle and shattering hotel windows.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry was quoted in Haaretz as saying there were no casualties. They also said, “15 people who had gathered on a side street near the hotel threw home-made fireworks in the direction of security forces stationed there” and that they had “apprehended one person who was hiding behind the hotel.”

Jerusalem Post stated,

“Islamic State said its members carried out the shooting in response to a call by the group’s leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to target Jews ‘everywhere’.

The group said in a statement released on the internet that light arms were used in the attack.”

Times of Israel reported, “in a statement carried by IS supporters on Twitter Friday, the group claimed the attack a day earlier left dead and injured among tourists and the security officers protecting the hotel.”

IS statement claiming responsibility for attack (Arabic)

There are concerns as to how such incidents will affect the Tourist Industry in Egypt which has experienced previous attacks. These included a suicide bomber who detonated explosives near the ancient Karnak Temple in the southern city of Luxor injuring 3 Egyptians in June 2014 and an attack where a motorcyle gunman opened fire killing 2 tourist police at Giza.

Regarding the presence of IS in Egypt, the Independent reported.

“Egypt’s most active terrorist group, Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, pledged allegiance to Isis in 2014 and started calling itself Wilayat Sinai.

Its jihadists are mainly active in the Sinai Peninsula, where they claimed to have bombed a Russian passenger plane with 224 people on board in October, and have also claimed responsibility for attacks in Cairo, the western desert and Nile delta.”

Bombing of Islamic State madrassa

IS also drew attention to the bombing of a madrassa within Islamic State (dated January 7th, Wilayah Salahuddin or Wilayah Dajla) and posted a video showing damage to buildings and appeared to show religious texts scattered in the rubble covering a wide area with a clear up operation ongoing. Qasim Khurasani linked to IS said,

“after these types of attacks many casualties happened, even many peoples were dead, and these types of attacks have been doing by kuffars/Crusaders/NATO/Syrian, Iranian, Iraqi and their allies from many years in Syria and Iraq so this is happened on daily basis and this is true and this shows the time of The Arrival of Imam Mehdi and Hazrat Essa A.S and the Anti Christ Dajjal”

This war is totally Holy war, Crusade and Islam War, this is religious war so we should realize.”

IS warnings to media

Qasim Khurasani linked to IS also had a warning for media not to show “vulgarity” saying,

“we are Giving threat to T.V Channels, your showing vulgarity in the media, we will kill you where we find you!! Inshallah.”

He also released a statement alleging the following and advising media to check stories with IS,

“To those Media Persons/Anchors/Analysts/Researchers who are truly reporting Facts and Figures about the whole world situation and specially The Islamic State News, my request is Western Media and also Pakistani and India media is doing false propaganda, so without any confirmation you do not have to believe on these media channels and news papers about IS on Social Media, so this is what I am talking about So before publishing any article either the news is True or False, you have to co-ordinate with IS persons or people are belonging to IS, so this is my request.”

Qasim Khurasani

Journalists, researchers and analysts experience practical difficulties confirming stories as links to IS media are often removed or hacked and go unanswered at times.

Khurasani dismissed a story related to an IS member Ali Saqr, 21, allegedly publicly executing his mother, Lena al-Qasem, 45 for “apostasy” in Raqqa, Syria. It was claimed she had asked him to leave the group. Khurasani said, it was “propaganda” and “its not true”.

It was not possible to confirm or deny another story where a Muslim leader in Bosnia alleged that IS had threatened him and claims to have troops ready to attack the country and Europe. Khurasani was not aware of this particular claim.

Letter from Sunni prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison, Iran, warning of imminent mass executions.

10363840_572814036204968_4978261179878457073_n

Posted on January 2nd 2016 by Sunni Prisoners Iran

[Translated into English below:]

In The Name of Allah, The Most Beneficent, The Most Merciful,

The last call for help.

This is an open message from the Sunni prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison to our respected scholars, decision makers, and all those who care about Muslims conditions.

To the preachers and students of knowledge, to Sunni people of Iran and all the world, to all righteous and free:

Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you,

After a series of unfair executions in the past few years, we can tell you that the Iranian regime is plotting to send the remaining Sunni prisoners awaiting execution in Rajai Shahr prison (27 prisoners) to the gallows for a mass execution.

They have already executed 12 youth in the last two waves of executions.

For this, and after asking Allah for help, we ask all Sunni people, including scholars and preachers, to unite and stand as one man against this oppressive government to prevent it from committing this massacre.

O Sunni people of Iran and the whole world…

These are your sons! They were unjustly pushed into this massacre, will you remain silent this time also? Will you again speak only a few, meek words and think you have fulfilled your responsibility?

What do you feel when you see your sons hanging from ropes in front of you while you are silent? Are you pleased?

Are Sunnis not able to take a serious stand to stop the execution of their sons? Are Sunnis not able to march, protest, hold press conferences and lead civil disobedience against Iran to let the world hear their voice?

When will these unfair executions against Sunni come to an end?
When will this silence come to an end?

Can we not raise our heads high for once, and choose dignity and resistance over surrender and humiliation?

Has not the Pharaohs got tired from slaughtering our children?
Will the devils of this era ever get satisfied from drinking the blood of Sunni youth?

O Sunnis of Iran and the whole world
Get up! Stop this humiliation!

How long will this silence last?
How long will we remain in this subservience and humiliation?

O Scholars! O Students of knowledge! Oh Muslim people!

For how long will you abandon the duty of enjoining the good and forbidding evil?

For how long will you abandon the best of Jihad: a word of truth in front of a tyrant?

O Muslim people of Iran and the whole world… Know that if you choose to remain silent now – as you did before – you won’t be able to do anything in the future.

If you are satisfied now with humility and the killing of your sons, you won’t be able to defend yourselves and your families against any future oppression.

The Iranian regime is mocking the Sunni people by this criminal act. How many of our scholars, preachers and youth have they killed while you chose to be silent?

They’re now testing your dignity and unity.

Today is a day of work, a day of acting and defending your dignity. Allah The Almighty is looking at your deeds and hearts, and on the day of judgement you’ll be standing before Him.

“And more appropriate for them [would have been] obedience and good words. And when the matter was determined, if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them.” (The Quran 47:21)

O scholars of the Ummah, we are your sons!

We have forgiven you when you failed us and we don’t complain to Allah. But we cannot prevent our children from grabbing your necks with their small hands on the Day of Judgement, asking you, “Why have you failed our fathers?!”

Speak out loud before your sons are taken to the gallows!

O Allah have we not delivered the message?! O Allah be our witness!

We ask our brothers and sisters to spread this message in social media websites, all over the internet and the media.

Islamic Emirate Wants Good Relations with the World

Those with insight and loving justice know that the Islamic Emirate was a peaceful and completely Afghan movement since its emergence, being based on Islamic principles and Afghan values. From day one until now, the speeches and official statements of the leadership and officials of Islamic Emirate are focused on resolving the sufferings and problems of the beloved country Afghanistan. In fact, when new movements emerge in any part of the world, especially at a time of chaos and anarchy some inexperienced youths make assertions contrary to principles and vision of the movement which never represents policy of the movement.

The Jihadic resistance against occupation and the movement of reform against corruption is a legitimate demand based on Islamic Sharia, human nature and intellect. Historical facts and human experiences have shown that decisions made contrary to justice and wisdom have no chance to succeed practically but it leads to many problems, destructions and sufferings. A good example in hand is the illegitimate decision of Goerge W Bush, former president of America to occupy Afghanistan which ushered in instability in the entire world including Afghanistan and America.

At present time, the entire world is like a village. Trade, social, cultural and joint intellectual values and cooperation are demands of the time. We not only want good relations but also want to make our relations stronger with all countries including Islamic countries on the basis of mutual understanding and in the light of the Islamic and national interests.

The new leadership of the Islamic Emirate has given clear message in his statements and speeches in this regard. For example, the esteemed Amir ul momineen Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor has explicitly stated in his message to the nation on the occasion of Eid ul Odha in 2015:  “The Islamic Emirate carries out political and other activities and has already taken practical steps in this regard. The Political Office is the only exclusive office being active for the past few years. We have given the Office authority to carry out contacts and negotiation with different entities. The Political Office has conveyed this message to everyone concerned that we want good and lawful relations with neighbors, the regional and world countries, particularly, Islamic countries…..”

Islamic Emirate has clear message for all countries especially for Islamic countries that we want to have good relations with all nations and further expand them. It will be better to have direct contact with each other and exchange views regarding our goals and values. We state with confidence that the ongoing Jihad in Afghanistan is a Sharia based and lawful right of Afghans because our country is currently under American occupation. They have dominated our independence and national sovereignty and martyred tens of thousands of our innocent people and harassed millions of our countrymen. Therefore, we have the right to defend our Islamic values and national interests. On the other hand, it is a reality that we do not have military activities outside our country.
