HELMAND, Jan. 08 – Reports arriving from Marjah district say that on Thursday at around 04:00 pm local time, Mujahideen attacked 2 compounds taken over by hireling troops airdropped by helicopters several days earlier located near Loe Charahi area.
The attack resulted in Mujahideen overrunning a compound, killing 6 gunmen and forcing the rest to flee as well as seizing a RPG launcher with 7 rounds, a rifle and other equipment.
Meanwhile the troops that had entered Darab Charahi area located between the district center and Camp region with the aid of US-nato airpower 2 days earlier to try and reopen the main road were also engaged by Mujahideen last night.
Officials say that an enemy APC was destroyed in the ensuing clashes and the hirelings forced to flee while leaving behind the corpses of 3 comrades.
The entire area is once again under the complete control of Mujahideen.
