Obama about to be replaced in the White House but no sign of Guantanamo being closed (Image Amnesty International)
8th November 2016
The London Guantánamo Campaign [1] will hold a demonstration, “Unfinished Business” [2] outside the US Embassy in London at 6-8pm on Tuesday 8th November to coincide with the US presidential elections. Speakers from various organisations and campaigns will raise human rights concerns of common interest to the US and the UK.
Aisha Maniar, an organiser for the London Guantánamo Campaign, says, “Unlike in previous campaigns, the illegal detention camp at Guantánamo Bay has not been an election issue this year; its closure has only been raised by Green candidate Dr Jill Stein. Outgoing President Barack Obama’s many promises to close the detention facility are almost certainly broken with 60 prisoners remaining, many of whom were subject to some of the worst forms of torture meted out by the CIA, the US military and its allies. Rather than closing Guantánamo, Barack Obama is more interested in covering the tracks of his own human rights abuses as president.
“The responsibility for the ongoing operation of the Guantánamo Bay camp does not lie squarely on the shoulders of the USA. Its allies, including the United Kingdom, must investigate and address the role they have played in the injustices related to Guantánamo. They must also work with the new president to bring about the closure, and not merely the transfer, of the Guantánamo Bay detention facility, a prominent symbol and potent reminder of the destructiveness of the ongoing so-called war on terror.”

Recently a report has been published on the part of UN which says that there are many foreign Mujahideen in Afghanistan alongside the Islamic Emirate and have vast participation in the fighting.
These claims are part and parcel of efforts of the Kabul Administration which is bent on boosting foothold of the moribund Kabul regime and prolonging their reign by dent of foreign power. Similarly, America wants to intimidate other countries in order to continue and justify her illegitimate presence in Afghanistan and keep them on their side in the occupation of Afghanistan and divide her financial and soul losses among others and reduce its burden. Furthermore, she has other long-term objectives in the region. For this purpose, the rulers of the Kabul Administration and the invading countries of Afghanistan give distorted information to these experts.
The Islamic Emirate has often reiterated that there is no foreign national in its files and ranks, nor there is any need for them because:
Arab Mujahideen had come to Afghanistan during Jihad against the Red Army of the former Soviet Union but they returned to their countries following the recent developments and the American occupation. Now they have proper and vast environment of living and activity in Arabic countries.
If there were foreign supporters with the Islamic Emirate in the fighting, the American or their hirelings of the Kabul Administration would have captured them in a battle in any place or they would have had area in their hands so that the (Americans and the Kabul Administration) would have put them forth as evidence.
Those people who tried to create problems in the eastern regions of the country under the name of Daesh were rejected by the Afghan nation. They faced failure instead of advancement. A few remnants of them rear up their heads time and again by utilizing the prevalent situation at eastern borders but they are not able to pose any big
With the help of publication of such news and reports, the Americans want to attribute to others the advancement made by the Islamic Emirate which actually emanate from the freedom-loving and Islamic aspirations of the Afghan nation and is a national uprising and to distract the attention from the legitimate struggle and demands of the Afghan people and to create obstacles in their way.
Majority of the Afghan nation is with the Islamic Emirate and recruits from among them in the ranks of the Islamic Emirate as per need. There is no need for manpower from others.
The policy of the Islamic Emirate is neither to use the soil of Afghanistan against any one nor to intervene in the internal affairs of others. Similarly, does not allow others to intervene in its internal affairs.
The Islamic Emirate has a single military organizational set-up across the country. There is no other parallel set-up, nor there is permission for any such set-up.
The Islamic Emirate calls on the world countries, particularly, on the people of the Western countries not to support the Americans any more due to their mere pretexts nor give ear to such estimates and reports being in contradiction with the ground realities.
The Islamic Emirate, as a responsible entity in the region, reiterates that the current struggle and Jihad in Afghanistan is only aimed at obtaining independence of Afghanistan and forming an Islamic system. It is an uprising which originates from the Islamic faith and the Afghan feeling.

Saoradh Unfinished Revolution
Statement Saoradh member, Damhnic Mac Eochaidh read tonight at the well attended demonstration against British PSNI harassment in Belfast.
A chairde,
Can I first of all begin by thanking you all on behalf of Saoradh for attending here tonight. It is to be commended that we have such a good turnout here, given the short notice and cold weather.
As Republican activists, no quarter is given and none should be asked for. We have taken the conscious decision to embark on a life of struggle, a life committed to achieving Freedom for our country and betterment of the lives of the working class. We seek to remove the twin evils of occupation and capitalism as we achieve liberation. We make no apologies for that, and are aware of the intimidation, harassment, hardship, imprisonment and possible death that awaits us.
Accordingly, we face an enemy that is willing to use the tools at its disposal. Fists, batons, tasers, plastic bullets and live ammunition are but equipment to the Crown Forces. Their real tools are the various forms of legislation they utilise in futile attempts to break the Republican Struggle. Legislation that has been imposed on us by a foreign parliament at Westminster with no right to be in Ireland.
RIPA. The Terrorism Act. The Justice and Security Act. Stop and Searches. Home Invasions. Arrests. Malicious Charges. Miscarriages of Justice. Collusion. The murder of Irish citizens, the most recent just a few weeks ago in our city centre.
These are all separate components of the British War Machine in Ireland, supported by unknown numbers of MI5 operatives. All of which is supported by a Sinn Fein/DUP coalition at Stormont, implemented by their unionist “justice” minister. We continue to resist all these mechanisms of British Rule.
In the course of their war on our communities, Britain and the Stormont State has now taken to attacking and threatening the families and children of activists. Not content with threatening the lives of their parents, stealing their toys and consoles, confiscating laptops with important exam coursework and wrecking their homes, the PSNI have now specifically targeted children for harassment.
The children of activists, many of whom not yet in their teens, now find themselves being the victims of stop and searches on their way into school. They are being targeted on their way to GAA, soccer, boxing or Irish dancing practice. Their hurling coaches are being threatened with arrest for carrying sticks. Even on holiday, they are targeted by whichever secretive arm of the Crown Forces MI5 deem appropriate. Is this part of the process to pressure children into becoming informers that Gerry Kelly has publicly stated he approves of?
It is no coincidence that this targeted harassment of children has coincided with the recent launch of Saoradh. It is in the interests of the State, of reformists and of the establishment clergy that there is no national, articulate and radical Revolutionary Movement that will organise to oppose their collective agenda. This, allied with the efforts of the gutter press, condemnation from reformists and the hysteria of political unionism are the age-old combination of forces that has traditionally railed against progressive, socialist, Republican alternatives. Those who support the armed wing of unionism need to publicly explain their endorsement of those who abuse our children, and be honest as to the responsibility they bear with regards to passing information to the PSNI on activists and their children.
We are here, Saoradh are here, along with other welcome organisations and individuals, to state that nothing will break us. We will not be strangled at birth. The advantage of movements such as ours is our resilience and the strength of comradeship. Our activists, our families and our children have the collective strength and internal support to withstand these attacks. We also want to appeal to the public, anyone who is the victim of harassment, intimidation or approaches and thinks they are alone. You are not alone, contact Saoradh and we will assist and support you.
They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of one Irishman who doesn’t want to be broken.
End

Mirwais Afghan “And they call it “precision strikes” … baby killed in US airstrike Kunduz
At least 36 civilians including 13 children and 4 women were killed in a US Nato-led Resolute Support mission airstrike on the village of Buzi Kandahari in Afghanistan on Thursday according to freelance journalist Mirwais Afghan who covers the region. Provincial spokesman Mahmood Danish confirmed at least 30 dead and 26 wounded to AFP. This comes just over a year after the US bombed a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) hospital in the city of Kunduz, just 3 miles away, killing 42 people and incinerating patients in their beds. This caused an international outcry which grew with the failure to hold those responsible to account despite an investigation.
The latest incident happened at around 4am when US airstrikes were called in to support American and Afghan military under attack from the Taliban who have twice taken over the city. Kunduz police chief Gen. Qasim Jangalbagh told Associated Press, “the target of the raid were two senior Taliban commanders, who were killed in the fighting along with 63 other insurgents.”

Emran Feroz who also writes on Afghanistan drew attention to biased media reporting. He claimed that although civilians have been bombed to death,”media outlets still prefer to focus on 2 dead US soldiers” who were also killed on Thursday along with 3 Afghan militia. He went on to say,
“We are now talking about 30-36 civilian air strike victims in Kunduz. And some still wonder why Taliban have easy job among locals there. Some people on the ground in Baghlan/Kunduz told me that death toll after recent air strikes might be much higher, even more than 100. Reason: US nearly destroyed a whole village. Many victims might still be under wreckage. For the record: Kunduz faced NATO bombing massacres regularly. Also after this one, we already know that the murderers won’t face charges.”
Brig Gen Cleveland, US military spokesman responded to the bombing in the Guardian saying,
“As part of an Afghan operation, friendly forces received direct fire and airstrikes were conducted to defend themselves. We take all allegations of civilian casualties very seriously.”
“As this was an Afghan operation, we’ll work with our partners to investigate but refer you to them for additional details in the near term. We’ll provide updates as we have them.”
Amnesty International highlighted the lack of accountability for the Kunduz strikes saying, “previous violations of international humanitarian law by US/NATO troops still remain uninvestigated and unpunished.” Tabish Forugh a Fulbright Scholar and Former AFG Election Commission Official tweeted, “according to laws of war, non-combatants shall be protected under any circumstances. What happened in Kunduz in shocking and inhuman.”
Angry demonstrators shout “death to America”
Angry locals took to the streets to protest outside the governor’s office taking with them dead bodies of their loved ones laid out in trucks. One infant was reported to be only 3 months old. A heartbroken labourer Taza Gul (55) told the BBC, “I have lost seven members of my family. I want to know, why these innocent children were killed? Were they Taliban? No, they were innocent children.”

Afghan Resolute Support put out the following release regarding the death of 2 US service members that died on the same day.
Kunduz casualty release (Nov. 3, 2016)
KABUL, Afghanistan (Nov. 3, 2016) — Two U.S. service members died as a result of wounds sustained during operations in Kunduz district, Kunduz province today. Two other U.S. service members were wounded in the operation.
“On behalf of all U.S. Forces – Afghanistan, today’s loss is heartbreaking and we offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of our service members who lost their lives today. Our wounded soldiers are receiving the best medical care possible and we are keeping them and their families in our thoughts today, as well,” said Gen. John W. Nicholson, commander of USFOR-A. “Despite today’s tragic event, we are steadfast in our commitment to help our Afghan partners defend their nation.”
The service members came under fire during a train, advise and assist mission with our Afghan partners to clear a Taliban position and disrupt the group’s operations in Kunduz district.
U.S. Department of Defense policy is to withhold the identity of the service members pending next-of-kin notification. We will release additional information as appropriate.
Ahmet Yar pointed out that the attack the homes of families in Buzi Kandahari was not an isolated incident he said, “before Kunduz massacre, American airforce killed tens of people in Sherzad district of Nangahar 6 days ago & about 70 in Uruzgan 4 days ago. Yesterday’s Kunduz airstrike was the third war crime committed by America in Afghanistan this month alone. Total 150+ civilians killed.”
In a statement released in October 2015 following the strike on the hospital in Kunduz, Medecins Sans Frontier/ Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said,
“MSF had provided the GPS coordinates of the trauma hospital to Coalition and Afghan military and civilian officials as recently as Tuesday 29 September, to avoid that the hospital be hit. As is routine practice for MSF in conflict areas, MSF had communicated the exact location of the hospital to all parties to the conflict.
“from 2:08 AM until 3:15 AM local time today, MSF’s trauma hospital in Kunduz was hit by a series of aerial bombing raids at approximately 15 minute intervals. The main central hospital building, housing the intensive care unit, emergency rooms, and physiotherapy ward, was repeatedly hit very precisely during each aerial raid, while surrounding buildings were left mostly untouched.”
Dr. Usmani wrote on his Facebook page, the evening before the attack, “Spit, spit, spit, spit on your faces. Hey people, share this message that since this afternoon the bombers of the dirty and unclean government have been killing, maiming and wounding the innocent people of Kunduz.” He was to die soon after in the hospital bombing.

The Western and pro-western media outlets have recently published some baseless reports claiming that a delegation of the Political Office of the Islamic Emirate had held talks with a delegation of the Kabul Administration in Doha, Qatar. However, these media reports are based on their own speculation and analysis which has no reality. Such reports are mostly handed over to well-known persons of media outlets for publication by intelligence circles of relevant countries to obtain propaganda objectives or they just want to prevent further sagging of morale of the soldiers of the Kabul Administration on battle ground.
It is no secret that Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate have recently gained successive victories across the country while they are still advancing. Therefore, the enemies and opponents of the Islamic Emirate clutch at straws and foam like a sinking person and have resorted to baseless propaganda. Experiences have shown that such ploy and stratagem-oriented stance and activities not only prolong the way towards destination of real peace regarding the Afghanistan’s issue contrarily, it makes the issue further ambiguous.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is a committed force and a home of tens of thousands of martyrs and dedicated fighters. It has overcome many ups and downs with dignity and stamina during the past fifteen years. From the beginning, the aim was to end occupation, obtain full independence of the country and realize establishment of Islamic system. We have always sought and still seeking a peaceful resolution of the Afghan issue in light of the said objectives.
We have reiterated time and again that the issue of Afghanistan has two dimensions, the external and the internal. As to external dimension, the end of occupation is the main problem. Either by diplomatic process or through military means, this problem should come to an end. The issue of Afghanistan could not be resolved without resolution of this problem. Furthermore, the Muslim nation of Afghanistan is giving sacrifices for realization of Islamic system in the country for the past four decades. Tens of thousands of true sons of this country have been martyred, injured and handicapped for this cause. It should be clear to all that an Islamic system based on the consensus of the Muslim people of Afghanistan is a legitimate and human right of the Afghan nation. The Islamic Emirate is not fighting for gaining power rather it is continuing its Jihadic efforts for obtainment of lofty objectives.
As the current esteemed leader and the former esteemed leaders of the Islamic Emirate have mentioned in their messages that all Afghans have right to serve and protect their country. Hence, the Islamic Emirate wants an all Afghan inclusive Islamic system in a sovereign Afghanistan and do not want monopoly of power. The real solution to the problem is that the Afghans should come together around these Islamic and national common points.
But, if the internal and external opponents and enemies of the Islamic Emirate think that they would solve the issue of Afghanistan or would harm the Islamic Emirate or would create mistrust between people and the Islamic Emirate by resorting to baseless and futile allegations against it, they are wrong. It will be but another failed attempt like their previous ones. It tantamounts to throwing dust in the eyes of the Afghans rather than resolving the issue.

By the grace of Almighty Allah, the courage and sacrifices of Mujahideen and the unstinted support of our people, victories of Mujahideen are expanding across the country which has created panic in the Kabul Administration. As before, once again, the soldiers of the Kabul Administration have resorted to killing and harassing civilians and demolishing places of public benefits. They think that, by doing so, they would compel people to stop supporting Mujahideen and on the other hand they would be able to hide their own failure and incompetency.
After the capturing of Kunduz city by Mujahideen, the surrogate soldiers due to their habit used mortars and other heavy artillery against commercial and residential areas inside the city. As a result, many commercial markets got fire while common people sustained financial losses worth millions of Afghanis. On 22 August, helicopters of the Kabul Administration bombed Alchin Bridge near Kunduz city to prevent advancement of the Mujahideen towards Kunduz city. Similarly, attack on Braishna Corporation workers in Kunduz province, destruction of electricity pylons in Baghlan province, bombardment of hospitals and use of schools as military outposts are those destructive acts which have been carried out by the invaders and surrogate soldiers of the Kabul Administration. On 17 February, a Swedish Committee hospital was attacked by the invaders and their surrogate soldiers in Wardak province. As a result, four patients were dragged out from the hospital in the darkness of the night and martyred them with knives and blades. On August 17 of the current year, the Human Rights Watch also confirmed in its report that the Kabul Administration was using schools as military outposts.
The invaders and their surrogate allies should know that lies could not sustain. They are not able to deceive the Afghan nation and hide the truth anymore. It is also clear that prosperity of our people and protection of places of public benefits are the lofty objectives of the Islamic Emirate. The Esteemed leader of the Islamic Emirate Sheikh-ul-hadith Haibatullah Akhundzad (may Allah protect him) has given exclusive instructions to Mujahideen regarding implementation of the said objectives. The Kabul Administration should know that this malicious ploy is no more effective as they used to destroy places of public benefits and then blamed Mujahideen of having perpetrated the act. Neither they are able to sell their masquerade anymore nor they could restore the morale of their moribund soldiers by mere slogans.

Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, Pakistan is once again under threat as 6 attackers stormed a police centre in Sariab Road housing 200 cadets. The assailants are believed to have entered through a front gate. At least 60 people have been killed and over 100 injured. Both military and Frontier Constabulary were at the scene and engaged in an ongoing gun battle struggling in the dark to identify whether persons in the building were victims or terrorists.
Dawn media stated early on in the attack, “police officials say the casualties may rise. Television channels are reporting that the terrorists have taken several cadets hostage, and an operation is underway to clear the building.Gunfire and explosions can be heard from inside the centre.” Express Tribune noted, “the attack came a day after separatist gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead two coast guards and a civilian and wounded a shopkeeper in Gwadar.”

It is clear that the Mujahideens’ strong military initiative that has resulted in the siege of five provincial capitals –namely Konduz, Baghlan, Farah, Uruzgan and Helmand – has caused great anxiety within American military and political circles.
Reports suggest that the American commander for Afghanistan – Nicholson – has made several tours to Konduz, Helmand, Farah and Uruzgan over the past week. He held numerous consultations with the demoralized military and political leaders of the regime. He assured them of American support, pointing out that American Special Forces and aircraft were fighting in support of the regime, and tried to raise their morale and urged them to fight harder against the Taliban.
However it is quite evident that with the might of Allah Almighty the Taliban have completely routed the regime’s forces and no amount of ‘prep’ talking will be able to raise their morale in Helmand and Konduz ever again.
This is due to the fact that in both Helmand and Konduz Americans have large military bases and personnel. Their Special Forces and their aircraft fought shoulder to shoulder with their internal allies and used aircraft to attack the Mujahideen. In addition, the American’s sent extra troops to these two theaters and even sent special advisors to assess the situation. Moreover their ex-Communist regime allies filled the airwaves with false promises of a swift and decisive victory. Their ex-Mujahideen allies gave religious ‘fatwas’ to defend the cities and begged for heavier bombardment. The American-owned regime media cried baseless accusations of civilian massacres and mass murders.
Yet despite all the military might and propaganda of the enemy, the Mujahideens’ strikes were so swift that it knocked the enemy of its balance, seized the initiative, routed the enemy forces and captured their emptied bases and military hardware.
There is no doubt that the Mujahideen number less than their enemies, and they have fewer and inferior equipment compared with the regime and its foreign masters. Be that as it may, the Mujahideen are nonetheless blessed with steely resilience, high morale and, most importantly, the aid of their Lord. With these few numbers and meager weaponry they shall, God willing, destroy and rout these debased auxiliaries and the demoralized foreign forces.

After attacks on police posts, on 9th October, allegedly by unknown Rohingya fighters, Myanmar authorities have disproportionally militarized Northern Arakan/Rakhine state raising a false alarm and creating human tragedies aim at destroying the Rohingya population.
The siege and assault on Rohingya civilians in bordering township of Maungdaw clearly represent the Myanmar military’s intention to use the extraordinary level of mass detention, torture, summary execution, rape and other atrocities against the Rohingya people.
UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) has confirmed that its food deliveries planned for more than 80,000 people have been blocked because of a military clampdown in the area and that the military has prevented any supplies from getting through. This interference with aid is clearly intended to directly cause starvation and the deaths of civilians.
Humanitarian principles must be respected by all parties. It is a dire situation that UN agencies should not compromise humanitarian principles in the face of unjust demands by the Myanmar authorities. We demand that Myanmar government lift all restrictions immediately on humanitarian aid.
We urge upon the UN, OIC, EU, USA, UK, ASEAN, Bangladesh and Myanmar’s neighbors and international community and governments to intervene in the matter to urgently provide the needy with humanitarian aid in order to alleviate suffering of the starving population on the ground.
We also request all to protect the Rohingya civilians from ongoing indiscriminate killing, torching houses, arresting and torturing.
