The Islamic State claimed the killing of an Italian national, identified as Tavella Cesare, in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka

CQAfJDKWsAA4a2h

The Islamic State claimed the killing of an Italian national, identified as Tavella Cesare, in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka.

A 50 year old charity worker named Tavella Cesare died in hospital after being shot 3 times allegedly by militants attached to the Islamic State according to a statement released by the group today on social media. The group stated that  “citizens of the crusader coalition” would not be safe in Muslim nations.

Dhaka police spokesman Muntashirul Islam told AFP, “he was shot three times at Road Number 90 in the capital’s Gulshan area in the afternoon.” SITE intelligence group that monitors insurgency globally released a statement saying, a “security detachment” had tracked and killed Tavella with “silenced weapons” in Dhaka.

According to Dawn, “His colleague Alo Rani Dhali said Cesare had come to Bangladesh in May to work in the food security sector for a Netherlands-based church cooperative called ICCO.”

This appears to be the first time IS have struck in Bangladesh. Over the last year the group has made in roads into Pakistan and Afghanistan looking to expand in the region with fighting breaking out between IS and the Taliban. There are also concerns regarding the influence of IS in India which borders Bangladesh. The MailOnline in India reported that “security forces in the country have stopped more than 25 Indian citizens from joining ISIS, after they were radicalized by the terror group.” A plot was also revealed in documents discovered that Islamic State are secretly planning to provoke an ‘end of the world’ scenario by attacking India to try and entice USA into all-out war.

Bangladesh has been plagued recently by a number of blogger deaths which have been claimed by an affiliate of Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). They circulated a “hitlist” on social media of who they planned to attack, see article below,

“Bangladesh: Ansar- al -Islam (AQIS) claim responsibility for 4th blogger killed this year”

https://activist1.wordpress.com/2015/08/08/bangladesh-ansar-al-islam-aqis-claim-responsibility-for-4th-blogger-killed-this-year/

The killing of Cesare will only add to security concerns which may now be affecting international cricket and possibly football also as Australian cricket authorities debate whether to risk touring in Bangladesh, see Guardian report,

Afghanistan: Statement by the leader of Islamic Emirate statement on liberation of Kunduz city

1-flag

All praise is due to Allah and it is due to His boundless mercy and help that a key provincial capital in northern Afghanistan, Kunduz, has finally fallen to the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate as the first provincial capital to do so, and all praise belong solely to Allah.

The leader of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan congratulates Mujahideen and all the Mujahid nation on the occasion of this immense conquest and asks them to celebrate this victory with the remembrance of Allah and praising Him abundantly with prayers of thanks.

The Islamic Emirate deems it necessary to point to and give serious consideration to a few key topics on the blessed occasion of this event in Kunduz:

1. Mujahideen should give all of their attention to safeguarding the lives, property and honor of the respected citizens of the city of Kunduz after ending combat operations and securing their military objectives. Mujahideen must be vigilant and prevent elements which misuse such occasions in order to loot and plunder or harm the lives and property of locals or the shared Bait-ul-Maal (public property).

2. The citizens of Kunduz city should be aware that the Islamic Emirate has no intention of transgressing against their personal property, carrying out extrajudicial killings, looting or breaching the inviolability of homes rather it seeks to prevent such happenings. Whoever exploits such military situations to perpetrate such crimes are not Mujahideen. All citizens must aid the Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate in preventing such actions from happening and help them in identifying and detaining all perpetrators.

3. The citizens of Kunduz should not worry about safeguarding their lives and properties. Carry out your ordinary livelihoods in absolute security. All traders, workers, staff of hospitals, municipality and governing bodies should continue their daily routines without any fear or intimidation. Mujahideen are their brothers and are committed to securing their lives and property. Mujahideen are not thinking of harassing or deriding anyone but have intentions of respecting and bringing serenity to their lives.

4. Our message to government officials and security personnel who are thinking about resistance or are hiding in fear of retribution is that they should abandon all negative thoughts spread about Mujahideen due to enemy propaganda.

Mujahideen are not thinking about retribution but have come with a message of peace. Mujahideen were against such people due to them standing and carrying out duties in the ranks of the invaders and its stooge regime. If they regret their former actions and renounce links with the opposition then the gates of forgiveness of the Islamic Emirate are open upon them. They can confidently establish links with the Mujahideen by utilizing the Dawat wal Irshad (Call and Guidance) program, thus securing their lives and properties.

5. These conquests are due to the help of Almighty Allah and sacrifices of this Mujahid nation therefore the Kabul regime should openly admit its defeat, stop linking the victories of the Mujahideen to outside intelligence agencies and must not avenge their setbacks with blind bombardments and shelling of innocent people. They should accept the progress of Mujahideen as a bitter reality and think about their future and the future of the entire country in a cool composed manner. The time has now passed where big talks of Dostum, shrewd promises of Ashraf Ghani and baseless propaganda of the west would confuse common thought.

Afghanistan: Taliban storm Kunduz, resident states “city is completely with Taliban, ANSF are out”

Islamic Emirate, Afghanistan Taliban have taken over parts of the strategic city of Kunduz in northern Afghanistan on Monday morning attacking from three sides. According to Al Jazeera the city was now in “lockdown”. This is a continuation of Operation Azm meaning “Resolve” which began on 24th April 2015. At its launch Taliban stated it was, “for the complete liberation of our beloved homeland from the yoke of foreign occupation and for the implementation of Islamic rule throughout the country, the Islamic Emirate is determined to prolong the ongoing Jihad against the foreign invaders as well as their internal stooges.”

BBC reported, “the assault was the second time this year that the Taliban have besieged Kunduz city, as the NATO-trained Afghan police and army fight largely without the help of foreign forces.” Smoke could be seen rising from buildings. The Taliban had time to tweet a series of photos from various parts of Kunduz and allegedly freed between 700-800 prisoners. After the initial breach of prison walls and a rush to break out, some former inmates could be seen moments later strolling casually hand in hand away from the jail. Then according to locals the Taliban allegedly “seized private banks”. Habibullah Helal, a Twitter account reporting jihad news claimed, “Provincial House under control, now full city in control of Mujahideen and they are advancing toward Airport.” This could not be independently confirmed.

Graeme Smith, Senior Analyst at Crisis group, Kabul stated,

“the situation in Kunduz city seems quite serious. After Taliban break into urban zones, hard to fight them with aircraft and artillery.

Unconfirmed reports that Taliban captured all gates of Kunduz city along with provincial hospital, the old German PRT, and a cotton factory.”

In a recent update, Ahmad Mukhtar, a CBS journalist said, “provincial capital of Kunduz has fallen to the hands of Taliban. This is the first time Taliban take control of a provincial capital since 2001”. Abdul Mateen Imran, a political and security analyst stated, “strong anti-Taliban Jamiati commander, Mir Alam, is outside the country (in Tajikistan) and his fighters didn’t defend Kunduz city today. However he went on to say, “Special Forces preparing to retake all positions. The situation will change in a few hours.”

A spokesperson for President Ashraf Ghani said, “he is aware of and directs officials on fluid situation in Kunduz; 1st priority is citizens’ safety; media brief by security officials @ 8p GMIC ” RFERL reported that, “Afghan special forces flown into Kunduz airport on C-130 aircraft to launch counter-attack to retake city” however this could prove to be difficult due to the risk of killing civilians during air strikes.

Al Jazeera also reported that, “roads to the city had been blocked and some police stations within the city were surrounded by Taliban fighters”. Taliban had “reportedly taken control of a 200-bed hospital in the city”. Vice News stated,

“A hospital official confirmed Taliban fighters had entered the hospital briefly, apparently looking for wounded government fighters.

‘They just visited our rooms. They didn’t harm anybody and didn’t damage anything. They left soon after,’ said the official, who declined to be identified as he feared repercussions.”

Zabihullah Mujahid (Islamic Emirate spokesperson) tweeted,

“The Mujahideen (Taliban fighters) are trying to avoid any harm to Kunduz residents. Residents have to be assured they will not face any problem from our side”

Medecins Sans Frontier (MSF) informed that a “mass casualty plan” had been launched at their trauma centre in Kunduz with doctors treating influx of 66 wounded. They claimed there was heavy fighting and “the MSF hospital has received 66 patients including 8 dead on arrival, 17 in critical condition.” Kunduz trauma centre is the only facility of its kind in north-eastern Afghanistan where “doctors treat all wounded according to medical need”. A later update from Afghan journalist Ali M Latifi gave the following figures, “MSF has treated 102 injured, of them 36 in critical condition ‘severe abdominal and head injuries'”.

Nightime in Kunduz, Taliban remain in control (Image Habibullah Helal)

As TOLO reported, the blame gain as to who is responsible for the fall of Kunduz has already begun and could risk the security of neighbouring Takhar and Badakhshan. TOLO said,

“Kunduz was conquered from the inside. It was stated several times that opponents have infiltrated the government,” military commentator Atiqullah Amarkhail said.

“The reluctance of government to fight the opponents in one hand, the strong presence of Taliban on the other, and also the lack of coordination among the security forces and lack of support to security forces has led to the collapse of Kunduz,” political analyst Abdul Shokor Salangi said.

Islamic Emirate statement on liberation of Kunduz

The Taliban quickly moved to issue a statement from their leader, Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansur reassuring residents that they would be safe under their control stating,

“Mujahideen should give all of their attention to safeguarding the lives, property and honor of the respected citizens of the city of Kunduz after ending combat operations and securing their military objectives”

and of a reconciliatory nature to officials saying,

Our message to government officials and security personnel who are thinking about resistance or are hiding in fear of retribution is that they should abandon all negative thoughts spread about Mujahideen due to enemy propaganda.

Mujahideen are not thinking about retribution but have come with a message of peace. Shaker Aamer to be released, campaigners demand accountability for his treatment during detention

2013-11-28-Shaker2012photowaving

Shaker Aamer never gave up and advocated for other detainees

On 24th September at 2.10 pm I wrote on a Facebook page which supports prisoners,

Eid Mubarak to Shaker Aamer and all prisoners unable to celebrate with their families ‪#‎WeStandWithShaker‬

I had gone to bed praying for Shaker but could hardly have imagined that just a day later I would learn that Shaker Aamer (46) the last British citizen in Guantanamo Bay detention centre would finally be coming home. Shaker originally from Saudi Arabia has been held captive for 13 years of his life, sold as bounty to the Americans in 2001 in the post 9/11 frenzy whilst working as a volunteer at a school in Afghanistan. He has never been tried or charged, was cleared for release not once but twice and remains an innocent man. Shaker was arrested the day his son Faris was born and has never even met his youngest child.

The news ironically first came to my attention via Brandon Neely, a former Guantanamo Guard who has since spoken out about his time there and believes the place should be closed down. He tweeted,

I am so happy to see this British resident held at Guantanamo Bay to be sent to the United Kingdom

Later he continued,

I and others like me were the real terrorist at Guantanamo not detainees like Shaker Aamer

pg-4-kids-sandison

Shaker’s family eagerly awaiting his return

My first thought was Shaker’s daughter Johina, I tweeted,

So happy for you… the most wonderful news, my love to all your family and joy that you will soon be reunited.. Allahu Akbar

Johina sent a message to well wishers stating,

Thank you everyone for all the support. The news hasnt hit yet. We can’t believe we might finally see our Dad after 14 years.

Cori Crider, Director at Reprieve and part of Shaker’s legal team wrote, “Shaker’s wife and his four British kids have been on a terrible emotional rollercoaster over the past nearly decade and a half so we really need some clarity around when he’s going to see them again.” Supporters were encouraged to take to social media for confirmation of a date of return and push for Shaker to be “put on a plane tomorrow”. CAGE Outreach Director and former detainee of Guantanamo Bay and Bagram prisons, Moazzam Begg said in a statement,

“I have confirmed from personal sources that Shaker Aamer’s release is imminent and could take place within days. CAGE has been fighting for the release of Guantanamo detainees since its inception. Shaker has been featured as one of the most prominent cases in the history of the organisation. His case encapsulates everything wrong with the War on Terror; detention without charge or trial, torture with the complicity of the UK government, cruel and dehumanising treatment, destruction of a young family, and lack of a accountability for war crimes committed against this man and those held with him – these are key features of Shaker case.”

Link to video at Guantanamo where Shaker Aamer can be heard protesting…

Shaker is now in poor health both physically and mentally

Back in December 2014 I wrote,

“In August we heard how Shaker (cleared for release) was allegedly beaten during the process of having blood extracted and over recent times has been subjected to the inhumane and degrading process of force-feeding. In the past, according to his lawyer Clive Stafford-Smith he was physically abused and alongside the beatings was subjected to strappado (dislocating the shoulders by hanging by the wrists).

We know that Shaker has been diagnosed with severe PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) after an independent medical examination (though it took 12 years to get this) and according to Reprieve human rights organization it is recommended that he ‘receive urgent psychiatric treatment’ and ‘reintegration into his family.'”

Shaker himself stated,

“they’ve taken almost all my ‘comfort items’ away again now, along with the knee brace the doctors ordered, the back brace, the medical socks for my edema, and the blanket for my rheumatism. Not that I care. Everything is meaningless, so long as I am still here, cleared, without charges, and without a trial”

b3ntdpvcyaa3-js

Andy Worthington (writer) Roger Waters (musician) Clive Stafford-Smith (lawyer) and Caroline Lucas MP launch the campaign at Westminster

There were fears voiced by campaigners that Shaker would never be released, he was often referred to as “the man who knew too much”.

“Shaker’s lawyer Clive Stafford Smith of human rights group Reprieve stated,

“We are calling on the UK to demand that President Obama send Shaker home tomorrow, so that Shaker’s family do not have to endure yet more agony, uncertain every time a phone rings.

British politicians may talk about our ‘robust and effective systems to deal with suspected terrorists’ but Shaker is not and never has been a terrorist. He has never been charged with a crime or had a trial. He has been cleared for release by the Americans themselves for 8 years.

I hope the authorities will understand that he has been tortured and abused for more than a decade, and what he wants most is to be left alone with his family to start rebuilding his life.”

Several photos showing campaigner supporting Shaker in action

There are many people to thank for helping bring Shaker home, too many to mention by name. However those who did stand up for Shaker’s rights wrote articles, letters to MPs, songs, signed petitions, demonstrated outside parliament with a giant blow up inflatable of Shaker, dressed up in Guantanamo style orange jumpsuits, ran marathons, donated money to the family, agreed to be waterboarded and force-fed to highlight his suffering and went on hunger strike in solidarity. There were also those who did not live to see the results of their efforts. Maryam Hassam wrote,

“Thinking how happy Salim Akbar would have been at today’s news, how tirelessly he campaigned for Shaker and stood by his family long before it was popular or common to do so… may Allah accept your efforts and make it a source of delight for you in His Paradise.”

A delegation of MPs, including new Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, lobbied Washington to release Shaker after his case was debated in the House of Commons in March. As Andy Worthington investigative  journalist with a website on Guantánamo wrote,

“under US law, the defence secretary, Ashton Carter, must sign off on any prisoner releases, certifying that all steps have been taken to ensure that it is safe to do so, and Congress then receives 30 days’ notice. As a result, Shaker may not be home until late October, but the announcement of his impending release is a clear cause for celebration.”

Dr David Nicholl, who campaigns for Shaker said,

Thanks to Who will never have to drive me to Downing St in a jump suit & chains AGAIN!

Save Shaker Aamer tweeted

– A great day for everyone involved in the campaign for , not least his family. Reminder that Justice prevails, sooner or later.

London Guantanamo stated,

Shame on British government too who could have acted much faster to have Shaker Aamer released – fight to goes on!

10544666_415069375349041_7071499366059529163_n

One of the regular protests calling for Shaker’s release

Shaker’s case does not end with his release. He will need time and a great deal of support to readjust to life outside Guantanamo and cope with the many changes in society. The issue of compensation for 13 years lost with his family must be addressed. Campaigners are also calling for accountability for his treatment during detention. The role played by government agencies must be investigated further.

Al Rodaini in Yemen tweeted the image above stating,

“Pic from Belaili’s mosque after being attacked by a suicide bomber among Eid prayers this morning.  “

At least 29 people have been killed today as they attended morning prayers for Eid al-Adha at the al-Bolayli mosque in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, located in an area where support is strong for Shiite rebels known as Houthis.

Al Jazeera stated, “witnesses reported that after a first blast inside the mosque, a second suicide bomber detonated an explosives belt at the entrance as worshippers rushed outside. Reuters reported that according to security sources the bomber was dressed as a woman. This is the sixth such attack in recent months.

Wilayat Sanaa affiliated with Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack.  They claimed, the attack on those IS term “rejectionists” was “part of a series of military operations to revenge Muslims against Houthis.” They stated,

“in a security operation facilitated by God as part of the acts of revenge for Muslims from the rejectionist Houthis, brother Abu Omar al-Hadidi waded into a crowd of apostate Houthis at al-Balili temple, detonated his suicide belt causing dozens to perish or to be injured.”

Islamic Emirate: A call of oneness of Allah and unity among Muslim Ummah from the Mount Arafat

12028129

In the epoch of ignorance, infidels used to worship idols in the Holy City of Makkah. There were 360 idols inside the Baitullah (House of Allah) and the rituals of Hajj revolved around the axis of idolism. Infidels defended their false beliefs and praised battles of their forefathers from the very premises of Masjid Al-Haram. When the sacred and great task of conveying the message of Allah, the Almighty devolved on the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) then he publicly began to invite people to the worship of Allah, the Almighty. Infidels were surprisingly asking:

  {أَجَعَلَ الْآلِهَةَ إِلَٰهًا وَاحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عُجَابٌ} (ص- ۵)

Has he made the gods (all into) one God? This is indeed strange.

(Surah 38, Verse 5)

Majority of Makkahans did not accept the call of Tawheed (unity of Allah, the Almighty) rather they created hurdles in the way of spreading Islam and the great leader of Islam was threatened with death.

Islam spread in Madina and most of the people embraced Islam because of the blessings of the preaching of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). On 13th year of the Prophet-hood, a group of seventy five believers including two women arrived in Makkah from Madina to perform rituals of Hajj. They pledged allegiance to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) near a narrow pass at Oqba in a night as they were in the middle of Hajj’s rituals and promised their obedience and cooperation. That allegiance is cited in the book of the life of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) as second Oqba allegiance and was an important turning point and development in the history of the spreading of Islam because it paved the way for the migration of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to Madina and establishment of an independent Islamic state.

On 10th year of migration to Madina, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) was performing rituals of Hajj in a time that one hundred thousand of his companions were present and none of infidels were available in the caravan of pilgrims. Only the voice of the dignity, greatness and oneness of Allah, the Almighty was rising from the Mount Arafat.

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) says:

Today, believers in Mount Arafat, in the important phase of rituals of Hajj are demonstrating their strong faith, sacred belief and Islamic unity before Allah, the Almighty. They are dressed in white uniform and with one voice moving towards a common goal. They are performing the important rituals of Hajj in an atmosphere of Muslim brotherhood with respect and honor to each other without any linguistic, factional or ethnical differences. Black and white, Arab and non-Arab, rulers and servants, poor and rich all with unadorned hairs, eyes full of tears, only expressing the oneness, greatness and dignity of Almighty Allah and praying for the unity and harmony of Mulim Ummah.

From one hand, the gathering of Muslim Ummah in the Mount Arafat is a sign of unity of Muslims and on the other hand, it gives an important lesson of equality and fraternity. Here, Muslim nations do not recognize rivalries, hatred, prejudice, enmity and discrimination. It portrays a beautiful picture of the life of heaven where all brothers-in-faith will convey a message of peace to one another. All are giving the following Islamic slogan

 {إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَة}

Believers are brothers.

and pledges that they will implement the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) which he delivered in Hajj ulwida (last Hajj of the Prophet (peace be upon him))

   [إنَّ دماءَكم وأموالَكم وأعراضَكم عليْكُم حرامٌ، كحُرمةِ يومِكم هذا، في بلدكم هذا في شَهرِكم هذا] (رواه البخاري]

“Verily! Your blood, property and honor are sacred to one another (i.e. Muslims) like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours and in this city of yours”

Getting inspiration from huge gathering at Mount Arafat, Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan invites all Muslim of the world to unity and harmony because the secret of strength, dignity and success of Muslim Ummah lies in unity. Similarly, the success or failure of a small society, an organization, a nation or a government takes root from their unity or disintegration. Therefore, the esteemed leader of the Islamic Emirate Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor (may Almighty Allah protect him) in his last message has called upon all Mujahideen that they should maintain their unity. He considers Islamic Emirate as a shared home and has invited all to serve Islam and Afghan nation under the shadow of Islamic Emirate within the current ranks and files of Jihad.

Saving Afghanistan’s dancing boys doesn’t fit with US army narrative and ignores their own alleged abuse

Joseph Goldstein New York Times stirred a hornets’ nest this week with his excellent article showing the double standards of the US military in Afghanistan. He alleged that American soldiers had been warned not to intervene if they saw Afghan allies sexually abusing young boys in Afghanistan. Goldstein detailed the disturbing story of Dan Quinn, a former Special Forces captain who acted otherwise and “beat up an American-backed militia commander for keeping a boy chained to his bed as a sex slave.” It emerged that members of the military alleged that they “faced discipline, even career ruin”obeying such military directives, see following link,

“U.S. Soldiers Told to Ignore Sexual Abuse of Boys by Afghan Allies”

British Forces also raised concerns over abuse of minors. As Ben Farmer pointed out in the Telegraph, Anna Maria Cardinalli was called in to write a report which she entitled, “Pashtun sexuality” after soldiers expressed discomfort. She wrote,

“they (British Forces) were having young men who were beginning to feel uncomfortable because they felt they were being approached.” She said the study gave no advice about what action troops should take if they confronted paedophilia.

Farmer’s article did point out,

“a spokesman for the Ministry of Defence said: “Afghanistan is a sovereign nation with its own law under which the sexual abuse of children is illegal.

“British forces working as part the wider [coalition] force continue to work with and assist the Afghan National Security Forces, including the Afghan National Army and Afghan Police, to ensure that the rule of law in Afghanistan is adhered to and upheld.’”

In contrast to confusion over what to do about abuse of young boys, occupying forces have long used imperialistic narratives of soldiers “saving” local women from “native savages” to boost ratings and justify adding a few years to their presence on foreign soil. India and Algeria come to mind in this respect. The US military has just about beaten this narrative to death in Afghanistan though this self gratifying “cause” had nothing to do with why they invaded the country post 9/11, retaliation for Taliban sheltering Osama bin Laden. The Taliban have however also regularly formed part of the popular occupiers’ narrative that they mistreat females and prevent girls’ education.

The theme of rescuing Afghan women and young girls (whether they want to be saved or not) allows Americans to feel good about war, helps boost support at home and soldiers can take on a traditional hero status often more akin to Hollywood movies than real life. The macho narrative is welcomed by many despite the high level of abuse against females within the US military itself not to mention the multitude of domestic abuse cases within America including ironically violence against women from some members of the Armed Forces suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of participation in conflict. Then there are the night raids in Afghanistan where civilians may find their doors kicked down on suspicion of sheltering Taliban and terrified women and children cower in fear wondering what will be the fate of their families.

However US “saving the vulnerable” does not sit quite so well when it comes to bacha bazi (playing with boys). This a long standing cultural tradition between powerful Afghan men and young often impoverished male children which may involve an abusive sexual relationship. These boys are attired in female clothing, adorned in make-up and wigs and will perform dances for excited mature suitors. They become “ashna” (beloved) and are prized enough to be fought over by jealous pursuers. As Joel Brinkley, a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle aptly put it, “so, why are American and NATO forces fighting and dying to defend tens of thousands of proud pedophiles, certainly more per capita than any other place on Earth?”

Films such as “Saving Private Ryan” can draw in  patriotic American audiences, rooting for the soldier next door fighting to survive in hostile enemy territory, “Saving Afghanistan’s dancing boys” doesn’t conjure up quite the same emotions and could possibly ignite homophobic fears that still lurk in the minds of some Americans. Consider also how the US military loves to find stories of allegedly escaping Taliban dressed as women as part of its propaganda to parade and mock them as being unmasculine and weak. Again this is to boost the macho image of the American soldier (though Taliban videos display a different image often of recruits, weeping in fear allegedly wearing nappies and urinating in their trousers.) Gender stereotypes are used on both sides in the war of words.

Patriots in the US might be surprised to learn that whilst US military are made to turn a blind eye to the horrors of bacha bazi it was in fact the Taliban who tried to stamp out this practice under Mullah Omar who taught that it was not compatible with the Quran and against the laws of Islam. As journalist Christian Stephen explains, to the young boys trapped in this role,

“subservience consists of accompanying the older man or “Lord” on errands, giving private dance performances and, in the majority of cases, enduring repeated violent oral and anal rape.

These assaults are not only a form of sexual slavery, most cases result in some form of grievous physical injury due to rape trauma including internal/anal haemorrhaging, rectal prolapse, protrusion of intestines, displaced pelvis bones, throat injuries, heavy internal bleeding, rectal wall tearing, as well as injuries that stem from the pure force of coercion. These include broken limbs, broken fingers, fractures, broken teeth, savage beatings, strangulation, asphyxiation, and in some cases death.”

For detailed article on abuse of boys in Afghanistan and its consequences see,

“Hand Covers Bruise: The Destruction of Afghanistan’s Boys!

http://www.ryot.org/bacha-bazi-afghanistan-pashtun-child-abuse-christian-stephen/912777

Ignoring such abuse has several knock on effects in a society where the purity of young is regarded as essential and sex before marriage is forbidden. An allowed practice of paedophilia aids the oppression and degradation of women in Afghan Society where male abusers (who must marry in traditional society) view women for procreation and young boys for sexual pleasure. Stephen tells the alleged story of one Afghan man being given health education at a US clinic whilst undergoing a medical examination as his wife was unable to conceive due to his practice of anal sex (again considered against the teachings of Islam).

A Statement from Gen. John F. Campbell in response to recent media has now been released (posted by Wings Over Iraq, News, Media Website, Image Snipview)

NEWS RELEASE

2015-09-22-01

STATEMENT FROM COMMANDER, RESOLUTE SUPPORT AND UNITED STATES FORCES-AFGHANISTAN

KABUL, Afghanistan (Sept. 22, 2015) – Statement from Gen. John F. Campbell, Commander, Resolute Support and United States Forces – Afghanistan:

Recent media reports citing alleged cases from 2010, 2011, and 2012, have claimed that in the past a command policy existed within the Afghan theater of operations that U.S. forces were to ignore suspicions of sexual abuse committed by Afghans against children. I personally have served multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan and am absolutely confident that no such theater policy has ever existed here, and certainly, no such policy has existed throughout my tenure as commander.

Consistent with clear U.S. Department of Defense policy on the issue of sexual assault, trafficking of persons, and similar matters, I expect all personnel to treat others with respect and dignity. I further expect that any suspicions of sexual abuse will be immediately reported to the chain of command, regardless of who the alleged perpetrators or victims are. The chain of command will take appropriate action under applicable law, as well as DoD and service regulations. If the abuse involves Afghans, a report shall be forwarded to me through operations channels, copied to the Staff Judge Advocate, so that the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan can be advised and requested to take action. I have personally spoken with President Ghani on this issue and he made it clear to me that the Afghan government will not tolerate the abuse of its children, or any of its people, and will thoroughly investigate all allegations and administer justice appropriately.

I want to make absolutely clear that any sexual abuse or similar mistreatment of others, no matter the alleged perpetrator or victim, is completely unacceptable, and reprehensible.

My expectations also apply to non-U.S. personnel assigned to the Resolute Support mission, consistent with their national policies and regulations.

———————————-

Although the statement from Gen Campbell condemns child abuse and states there is an expectation cases will be reported for investigation, there is a huge question mark as to whether this fits with ground realities? As stated, earlier stories of abuse against young girls are regularly used to promote military action in Afghanistan and as a reason to stay longer in the country. There is no such narrative for boys where turning a blind eye is said to be common perhaps because it is too close to home in some cases. The public should remember accounts of alleged CIA torture including sexual abuse against males by the US military or their allies in prisons and threats against children. As Reuters wrote in June 2015,

“the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency used a wider array of sexual abuse and other forms of torture than was disclosed in a Senate report last year, according to a Guantanamo Bay detainee turned government cooperating witness.

Majid Khan said interrogators poured ice water on his genitals, twice videotaped him naked and repeatedly touched his “private parts” – none of which was described in the Senate report. Interrogators, some of whom smelled of alcohol, also threatened to beat him with a hammer, baseball bats, sticks and leather belts, Khan said.”

Rolling Stone also pointed out the following which appeared in a report.

5) CIA interrogators threatened to rape or kill the detainees’ mothers and to harm their children.

“CIA officers also threatened at least three detainees with harm to their families – to include threats to harm the children of a detainee, threats to sexually abuse the mother of a detainee, and a threat to ‘cut [a detainee’s] mother’s throat.'” [Findings and Conclusions: Page 4]

8) The CIA sexually assaulted detainees with brutal “rectal exams.”

“CIA leadership… was also alerted to allegations that rectal exams were conducted with “excessive force” on two detainees at DETENTION SITE COBALT…. CIA records indicate that one of the detainees, Mustafa al-Hawsawi, was later diagnosed with chronic hemorrhoids, an anal fissure, and symptomaticrectal prolapse.” [Executive Summary: Page 100]

Mint Press also published a disturbing article, “Classified Evidence: US Soldiers Raped Boys In Front Of Their Mothers” in which respected journalist Seymour H refers to a secret Pentagon tape detailing alleged abuse by US soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison, Iraq, stating,

“The women were passing messages out saying ‘Please come and kill me, because of what’s happened’ and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It’s going to come out.”

Kasim Hilas, a former detainee also gave testimony saying,

“I saw [name blacked out] fucking a kid, his age would be about 15-18 years. The kid was hurting very bad and they covered all the doors with sheets. Then when I heard the screaming I climbed the door because on top it wasn’t covered and I saw [blacked out], who was wearing the military uniform putting his dick in the little kid’s ass, I couldn’t see the face of the kid because his face wasn’t in front of the door. And the female soldier was taking pictures.”

See following link,

Classified Evidence: US Soldiers Raped Boys In Front Of Their Mothers

khadr3

Omar Khadr allegedly tortured by US whilst in custody as a child (Image via Montreal Simon)

Then there was the US alleged torture of Omar Khadr (captured as a child soldier in Afghanistan) at the hands of the CIA and detained in Guantanamo as appeared in Vox,

“a few months into Khadr’s detention — he was, keep in mind, still only a child — guards chained him to the floor of an interrogation room. They pulled his arms and legs behind in a “bow” position, until his limbs strained painfully at their sockets. This was known in the officially sanctioned American torture guides as a “stress position,” and victims often pass out from the pain. Over several hours, the guards contorted Omar into different stress positions, each time shoving him into a painful position on the ground. Eventually, inevitably, he urinated himself.

The MPs returned, mocked him for a while and then poured pine-oil solvent all over his body. Without altering his chains, they began dragging him by his feet through the mixture of urine and pine oil. Because his body had been so tightened, the new motion racked it. The MPs swung him around and around, the piss and solvent washing up into his face. The idea was to use him as a human mop. When the MPs felt they’d successfully pretended to soak up the liquid with his body, they uncuffed him and carried him back to his cell. He was not allowed a change of clothes for two days.”

There is still no accountability for alleged US sexual abuse and torture of children.

To return to Goldstein’s article, he also highlighted the case of Lance Corporal Buckley who may have been killed due to having to ignore alleged abuse carried out by a US ally working for police at a base in Helmand province. One boy who was allegedly violated turned on marines including Buckley and 2 others.

As for expecting President Ghani to act on abuse of children, human rights reports from 2015 suggest that the situation in Afghanistan may be getting worse and abusers are allegedly being regularly funded by US and allies. As Dan Quinn pointed out after serving in Iraq, “we were putting people into power who would do things that were worse than the Taliban did — that was something village elders voiced to me.” Surely its time for the public to start questioning how government monies are being used. How can it be in the interests of US citizens for their government to support and finance the evil practise of paedophilia.

Afghanistan: Message of Felicitation of the Esteemed Amir-ul-Momineen on the eve of Eid-ul-Odha

CPeRaNeUAAApZBQ

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no god but Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. All praise be to Allah.

All praise be to Allah. We praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We also seek His refuge from the evils of our inner selves and from our wicked deeds. Whoever is guided by Allah, there is none to mislead him and whoever is left by Allah in error, there will be none as guide for him (except Allah).

I testify there is no god but Allah. Alone is He and has no associate and I testify that Mohammad (peace be upon him) is his Servant and Messenger.

Undoubtedly, the truest words are that of the Book of Allah and the best guidance is the guidance of Mohammad (peace be upon him) and evil is any new  addition ( in religion )and every new addition is but innovation ( prohibited).

Allah, the Almighty, says in the Holy Quran:

“O believers, fear Allah as you rightly should, and do not die except in a state of Islam (102) Hold fast all together to the bond of Allah and let nothing divide you. Remember Allah’s favor on you for He united your hearts when you were enemies, so that through His grace, you became as brothers and how He delivered you from the pit of Fire when you were on the very brink of it. Thus Allah makes plain to you His signs, so that you may be rightly guided.”(103)(Surah 3, Verses 102-103)

I felicitate the Afghan Muslim people, the Mujahideen of the strongholds of Jihad and all Islamic Ummah on this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Odha, and ask Allah, the Almighty to accept in His Sight, the sacrifices, charities, worships and pilgrimage rituals of Muslims which they have performed in these holy days, particularly, I pray to Allah, the Almighty to accept the martyrdom of the pilgrims that they embraced in the incident of the collapse of the crane at the premises of Masjid Al-Haram and bestow on the injured an early and complete recovery.

I offer my condolence to all Muslims on the sad demise of the Founder of the Islamic Emirate, the Esteemed Amir-ul-momineen, Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid and thank all those who have expressed their sympathy during this great tragedy and helped in keeping the Islamic Emirate united. May Allah, the Almighty grant them great rewards. I ask the Almighty Allah to bestow His forgiveness and grace on Amir-ul-momineen (may the mercy of Allah be on him) and accept in His Sight his lofty Islamic and Jihadic services and strivings in this sacred path and favor him with a high degree of blessing. I want a befitting patience from the Almighty Allah for the bereaved and revered family of Amir-ul-momineen and ask the Almighty Allah to give them a better substitute. Ameen, oh Lord of all Creations!

Availing myself of  this great religious occasion and opportunity, I would like to elucidate the stance of the Islamic Emirate regarding the recent Jihadic and political events of Afghanistan.

My Muslim Brothers!

For the past 14 years, the Jihad of the Afghan Muslim people against American-led invaders has been continuing under a sole leadership. No doubt, the leadership of the late Amir-ul-momineen, Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid and his honesty, firm determination and spiritual station was the driving force that led to better organization and management of all military, political, cultural, administrative and other affairs as he was leading them. Moreover, members of the Leadership Council, high ranking leaders, commanders, administrators, Mujahideen of the strongholds and the Afghan Mujahid nation stood together honestly and faithfully to lead the sacred convoy on the difficult labyrinth of path  with success and bring it closer to the threshold of victory, thanks to the material and spiritual assistance of Muslims.

I reiterate once more that, given these difficult conditions and critical situation, the responsibility of this heavy burden devolved on my shoulder in my capacity as leader of the Islamic Emirate is not possible ( for me ) to carry out without the help of the Almighty Allah and the cooperation of the brothers-in-faith. Therefore, while asking  personnel and administrators and Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate for their cooperation and prayers, I call on all sympathizers, revered religious scholars  and scholars of other fields  as well as analysts not to spare their valuable views, advice, conceptions (roadmaps) and practical assistance in military, political, educational, social and moral refinement and discipline sectors in order to render a positive, excellent and efficient service and to design and implement efficient plans. The Islamic Emirate is not only a Jihadic political movement but a system intending to bring about awakening and character refinement among our Muslim people and live up to their expectations regarding multi-faceted progress. So, they (the scholars) should help the Islamic Emirate in affairs concerning well-being, prosperity and progress of their people. There must be, in this shared home, a close mutual rapport, coordination and cooperation among all ethnicities and among talents from the modern and religious educations sectors.

I assure my Mujahideen and my nation that with the help of the Almighty Allah, I will do utmost to abide by the rules of the sacred Sharia and follow the path of the esteemed Amir-ul-momieen and will keep the ranks of Mujahideen united in the same way as they were united in the past and will continue to conduct my routine tasks in the light of instructions of the honorable Islamic scholars.

As our 14-years long Jihad against the occupation is nearing its victory and the enemy has faced defeat at every front, therefore,  it is trying to create an atmosphere of discord and distrust among the Mujahdeen by utilizing propaganda stratagems. It directly and indirectly spreads baseless rumors regarding split and ramification among the united ranks of Mujahideen. The nation, in general, and the Mujahideen, in particular, should be cautious about the conspiracies and plans of the enemy, specifically, I call on those brothers-in-faith who have grievances to thwart the maligning propaganda and diabolical conspiracies of the enemy. This is because the Islamic Emirate is our shared convoy initiated and boosted up by our and your sacrifices. Our and your honor and dignity and the dignity and honor of this oppressed nation lies in keeping this home united. So keep your ranks and files united in this critical situation. Respect to the blood of our martyrs and to their aspirations should take precedence over anything else.

Mujahideen should not pay attention to the futile propaganda of the enemy and should keep away from suspicions. The Almighty Allah says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اجْتَنِبُوا كَثِيرًا مِّنَ الظَّنِّ إِنَّ بَعْضَ الظَّنِّ إِثْمٌ ( سورة الحجرات، آیه ۱۲)

Believers avoid most of suspicion, in some cases suspicion is a sin.

(Surah 49, Verse 12)

As believers and committed servants of the Almighty Allah, it is our obligation to remain united and keep fused into one and evade all kinds of racial, geographical and lingual biases; should remain lenient towards people and have a conduct of compassion with them.

The Kabul Administration, the invaders and some other unscrupulous elements harass our oppressed countrymen under various pretexts. They consider the common people as their enemy and deprive them of their life and put them behind bars by leveling against them baseless allegations. They behave with them inhumanely during detention; even they martyr prisoners of the oppressed nation ruthlessly and brutally. Similarly, some mischievous persons and self-seeking intelligence circles harass innocent people in order to malign Mujahideen. We not only condemn such brutal activities in strongest terms but will punish the perpetrators according to the Islamic rules, if God willing. Moreover, if anyone in the rank of Mujahideen is careless about civilian casualties or is intentionally involved or misbehave with prisoners contrary to Sharia, we will conduct a comprehensive interrogation in this regard and punish him in the light of Sharia. We want to boost up our ranks with honest men and do not need the company of unscrupulous persons who carry out activities against Sharia and will block their way if God willing.

Mujahdeen should be fully careful not to shed blood of innocent people during operations. The Islamic Emirate has the responsibility to protect its people and I, as Amir of the Islamic Emirate, will never allow any harm and jeopardy to be caused to the life and property of the people as a result of negligence and incaution.

Mujahideen are not allowed, under any circumstance, to resort to activities based on their own discretion that are contrary to sharia or you have in mind some goals which do not coincide with the pleasure of the Almighty Allah but which only pleases the intrinsic whims of your souls. This (instruction) is applicable for all persons whether you dispense affairs as regards your brothers-in-arms or concerning common people. Even you should not misbehave with the enemy in a manner which is displeasing in the Sight of Allah the Almighty, i.e. to have leniency in response to leniency or harsh conduct in response to a harsh conduct but every action on your part should be in the light of Islamic law and the lofty behavior of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

The war has been imposed on us, violations against our Islamic government and nation has been committed and our land has been occupied. According to every principle and law, we have right to defend our faith and land; to gain our independence and form an Islamic system– an Afghan inclusive Islamic system where all people have their legitimate rights secured and lead life in an atmosphere of love and fraternity; a system being representative of people’s determination, defender of independence and territorial integrity, protector of Sharia-based Jihadic and national interests and has capability to have positive interaction with the world.

The invaders and their internal supporters who have been defeated in the face of Mujahideen are trying to show our victories in the north of Afghanistan as a danger to our northern neighbors and are trying to bring them to the rung of their alliance. But our policy is clear for our neighbors. They should not understand us through the spectacles of our enemies.

Religious and modern educations are a great and urgent need of the new generation of our country. I instruct Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate to pave the way for religious and modern educations in areas of their administration and render them assistance.

Scholars of the country, the pious educated class, national businessmen and all professional persons and men of trades and vocations are the future architects of this country. Mujahideen appreciate their talents and protect their properties. They should continue steadily to carry out their activities and services. The Islamic Emirate considers public and private properties and installations and services as the right of people and as national asset. Islamic Emirate will not allow anyone to harm them. The services which are carried out for the well-being and prosperity of our people by self-less charity organization (NGOs) and other benevolent individuals are commendable acts. We will help in facilitation of their work.

We consider the presence of invaders in Afghanistan against Afghanistan and the region, viewing it as a factor for war-mongering and prolongation of the war because it is a decisive threat and an open harm. So whoever wants stability and prosperity in Afghanistan, they should help the Afghans in ending the occupation.

The Islamic Emirate carries out political and other activities and has already taken practical steps in this regard. The Political Office is the only exclusive office being active for the past few years. We have given the Office authority to carry out contacts and negotiation with different entities. The Political Office has conveyed this message to everyone concerned that we want good and lawful relations with neighbors, the regional and world countries, particularly, Islamic countries and we urge persons with free conscious to help us in putting an end to the occupation of our oppressed and war-torn country.

As regards negotiation, we follow  policy as per need of time and demands on the basis of our principles and Jihadic and national interests.

The Islamic Emirate believes if the country is not under occupation, the problem of the Afghans can be resolved through intra-Afghan understanding.  Any foreign pressure under the pretext of resolving the Afghan problem, is not going to  resolve the problem but will rather create other problems.

If the Kabul Administration wants to end the war and establish peace in the country, it is possible through ending the occupation and revoking all military and security treaties with the invaders. But if slogans for peace are verbally chanted while on ground the strongholds of war are  growingly intensified under the name of geographical, racial, religious and factional clashes and ever more authority and materials are delivered to the unscrupulous and notorious gunmen and to the unbridled militias, to harass the oppressed people, then this is but mockery of peace.

The creation of different groups under the shadow of occupation and their arraying against Mujahideen in battles is the last conspiracy of the invaders for continuation of the American proxy war in Afghanistan which is being implemented in order to take revenge on the Afghans. But if God willing, the Afghan Muslim people will, through their strengthening of unity, foil this conspiracy as they have faced all other efforts of the invaders with fiasco. The Afghans should be conscious that secret circles of the invading countries intentionally want our nation to get entangled in bias-induced racial, tribal and geographical disease and thus pave the way for disintegration of our united country. Even they want the Islamic and Afghan identity of our historical country to become a disputed issue, an example on hand is the new electronic identity cards.

The invaders have not done any fundamental work in Afghanistan in the past fourteen years despite announcement of billions of dollars of assistance, i.e. any fundamental work or of long-term benefits for the Afghans! All their projects are designed for short-terms and are of low quality and spurious. However, they have fully spread poison to harm the way of thinking and trigger internal hostilities among the Afghans.

The Americans and their allies should take a lesson from the bloodshed of thousands of their soldiers and the disability of tens of thousands of others as a result of injury that they themselves admit. Hence, they should not send more troops in order to be killed or become disabled or grapple with psychological disease as a consequence of the current Jihadic response of the Afghans.

We tell the Americans you occupied Afghanistan under the pretext of the September Event. Now 14 years have passed since then, you were supposed to prevent other events like that of the 11 September,  following the occupation of Afghanistan but you are facing incidents similar to September Event everywhere in the world and at every moment of your life. You are targeted everywhere and your life is at risk. Therefore, you should revisit your policies of colonialism for prevention of these incidents and for your own security, rather than dreaming of illusory security by killing and occupying other nations.

The Islamic Emirate is bound by religious sympathy with the Islamic world and Muslims and share their joy and tragedies. As such,  we  will continue to raise our voice in support of the demands of the Palestinian Muslim people and the legitimate cause of other oppressed Muslims.

Praise be to Allah (SWT), today we see that the Mujahideen have clearly  defeated the enemy on every ground with the help of Allah, the Almighty. Mujahideen have gained many victories in every part of Afghanistan and have foiled all conspiracies of the enemy. In order to further become eligible for the help of Allah (SWT), the Mujahideen brothers should wage Jihad solely with the intention of raising the Word of Allah (working for the Cause of Allah) and for prosperity and service of the oppressed countrymen and consider the protection of life, property and humane dignity of the people as their Sharia-required and moral obligation and have a conduct full of affection, kindness and sympathy with people. Gain the support of the people in the performing of Jihadic activities and resolve your problems and those of the common Muslims in consultation and understanding with reverend religious scholars, tribal leaders and influentials from among the people. Behave with them like a servant not like a ruler.

To end, I felicitate the Afghan Mujahid people, Mujahideen at the strongholds and the detained Mujahideen in the prisons of the enemy and all the Islamic ummah on this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Odha and ask the Almighty Allah to accept in His Sight the sacrifices and deeds of Mujahdeen and all Muslims which they have offered for the obtainment of the pleasure of Allah (SWT). May Allah protect the Islamic Ummah from the evil of all conspiracies of the enemy and may Allah (SWT) enable us to share our felicity and joy with the families of martyrs, prisoners, Mujahideen, refugees and all the needy and miserable Muslims and procure for them their needs to the best of our ability.

Oh our Lord! make faith dear to us and embed it in our hearts and make unbelief, mischief and rebellion despiteful in our eyes and make us among those who are the guided ones. Oh Lord, grant us victory over our enemies and improve our affairs and guide us to what is good and better for our belief and this life. Ameen
