It is said that truth shines like the bright sun and cannot be shrouded with veils, with its rays penetrating even the toughest of barriers even if deflected for a short while.
The occupation of Afghanistan by foreign invaders, the national uprising against them, the failure of invaders and the ineffectiveness of their military strategies are realities which the occupiers and their media have tried to distort and conceal for the past eighteen years. Even when they understood that success was a mirage, they made bold claims of success through the media and labeled the mass national uprising against them as minor revolts.
But as truth cannot remain shrouded, a trove of documents laying bare the realities of the Afghan war were published by an American newspaper. The Washington Post published 2000 documents of US Special Inspector for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) which lifts the veil from the US military invasion of Afghanistan and shines light on truth that was painstakingly kept buried for the last eighteen years.
A major part of these documents are interviews with officials and individuals who were directly involved in the Afghan war. The interviews carried out at various intervals reveals that most military officials already knew that strategies adopted by the Bush, Obama and the Trump administrations were doomed to failure from the very start. They accept that America had no sound rational nor a military strategy for engaging in the Afghan war – with Generals themselves failing on basic levels of understanding the complexities of Afghanistan itself or whom they are actually fighting??
These documents revealing the damning truth about this war were kept hidden from the view of the American public and the world at large. Instead, the media kept feeding lies to the people by promoting propaganda of American progress and success in Afghanistan and championing a narrative that military success was a sure outcome.
In contrast, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan insisted from the very onset that the American occupation of Afghanistan had no rational or legal basis. The presence of American forces in Afghanistan are unwarranted and American Generals cannot win this war through crafting of military strategies.
Now that the truth has been unearthed, the time has come for war-mongering Generals and those who seek to keep the fire of this war lit through occupation to rigorously study and accept these realities. Sound rational dictates that truth be embraced and future steps taken in its shining light. Therefore, it is high time that this occupation finds a conclusion so that the longest war in American history – where a consensus of its failure was present from the very beginning – can end.
