Pakistan: Taliban, TTP JA claim responsibility for blast at MNA’s political office in DG Khan

Pakistan Tehreek -e-Taliban Jamaat ul Ahrar (TTP JA) claim responsibility for a blast at MNA’s political office in Dera Ghazi Khan. The news came via a tweet from spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan. Dawn media stated that the attack is believed to have been carried out by 2 men on motorcycles.

According to Express Tribune,

“At least seven people were killed while 13 others were injured on Wednesday after a bomb exploded inside the political office of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA, Sardar Amjad Farooq Khan Khosa in Dera Ghazi Khan’s Taunsa area”

The blast caused a fire at the office, a bomb disposal unit were called to the scene and the wounded taken to District Headquarters Hospital DG Khan. Akhlak Ahmed tweeted that according to Pakistani media, the head of suicide bomber had been found and a 13 kg suicide jacked used in DG Khan blast.

“TTP JA take responsibility for attack at election office of Muslim League N in Dera Ghazi Khan with the resolve that our attacks will continue until the Islamic system is enforced and implemented in Pakistan. Also to make it clear to the rulers that your activities cannot weaken our resolve but help us identify our targets.”

Khosa was away from his office at the time visiting Islamabad. Two candidates for union council chairman Zameerul Hasan Sangi and Akhtar Tangwani were reported to be among the dead.

Responses to the attack

Murtaza Javed Abbasi, National Assembly Acting Speaker, condemned the bomb blast at Thunsa DG Khan and expressed grief over the loss of precious lives.

Siraj ul Haq, Ameer Jama’at e Islami Pakistan said he “strongly condemned the coward attack on Amjad Khosa’s office in DG Khan. May Allah bless the departed innocent souls. Aameen”.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi (Pakistan Tehreek -e-Insaf) tweeted, “I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on PMLN MNA Amjad Khosa’s residence near DG Khan.The perpetrators must be held to account”

Earlier attack by TTP JA

Two months earlier, TTP JA also claimed responsibility for the death of PML-N lawmaker, Punjab home minister Colonel (retd) Shuja Khanzada in a suicide attack on his political office in Attock’s Shadi Khan village. Khanzada led an anti-terror campaign in Punjab province.
