The American Bar Association whose motto is “defending liberty, pursuing justice” has joined a coalition of human rights groups in calling for Obama to prosecute CIA torturers. Earlier this week I wrote that international human rights organizations were attempting to hold the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) accountable for torture as follows,

“Human Rights Watch, the American Civil Liberties Union, and Amnesty International called on United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch in a June 23, 2015 letter to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate torture and other violations of US law in connection with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)’s detention and interrogation program. The letter was attached to petitions signed by 111,788 concerned individuals supporting appointment of a special prosecutor”

Now William C Hubbard, President of the Bar Association has stepped forward penning a letter to The Honorable Loretta E. Lynch Attorney General of the United States U.S. Department of Justice, Washington DC. The link was posted online by Kenneth Roth, Executive Director, Human Rights Watch. The following is an extract,

Dear Attorney General Lynch:

The American Bar Association (ABA) is the national representative of the legal profession in the United States, with nearly 400,000 members worldwide. Consistent with domestic and international law, the ABA has long condemned the use of torture in all circumstances. In August 2004, the ABA adopted a policy resolution that states in pertinent part:

RESOLVED, That the American Bar Association condemns any use of torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment upon persons within the custody or under the physical control of the United States government (including its contractors) and any endorsement or authorization of such measures by government lawyers, officials and agents; ….

FURTHER RESOLVED, That the American Bar Association urges the United States government to pursue vigorously (1) the investigation of violations of law, including the War Crimes Act and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, with respect to the mistreatment or rendition of persons within the custody or under the physical control of the United States government, and (2) appropriate proceedings against persons who may have committed, assisted, authorized, condoned, had command responsibility for, or otherwise participated in such violations; …. FURTHER RESOLVED, That the American Bar Association urges the United States government to comply fully and in a timely manner with its reporting obligations as a State Party to the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment[.]

To date no one has been held to account despite a “torture report” being released on December 9th 2014 by the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI). However this was only a 525-page portion of a 6,000-page report. The rest remains classified. According to the Guardian, the report took several years to complete and allegedly cost $40 million to compile. It would be a total waste of state/taxpayers money if no action is taken on the findings and the trust of the people of America in their government to uphold justice would be greatly affected alongside the international community. See following link for details of torture.

Torture is a crime. Failure to prosecute CIA totally undermines the US government’s claim on the world stage to uphold human rights and shows gross double standards when America is so critical of the behaviour of other countries. As U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona stated in the Atlantic regarding the report,

“it is a thorough and thoughtful study of practices that I believe not only failed their purpose – to secure actionable intelligence to prevent further attacks on the U.S. and our allies – but actually damaged our security interests, as well as our reputation as a force for good in the world.”

CIA torture has incited violence and created terrible “blowback” as is shown in the video releases of the Islamic State and a number of militant “jihadi” groups. IS have taken every opportunity to show their prisoners in the familiar orange jumpsuits associated with Guantanamo and produced “copycat” violence of that carried out in CIA torture sites. IS now looks for ever more shocking ways to hit back at the US carrying out its own versions of torture in full grisly detail. CIA torture has very likely contributed to the tragic deaths of western hostages in IS custody. The Taliban, Al Qaeda and other groups regularly refer to the torture methods of CIA in their online publications which influences their own actions. Violence breeds violence. CIA torture must not go unpunished. As I pointed out in an earlier article it is time there was a “War on Torture”, states crossing the line create a security risk for all.

New documents yet more evidence of UK and European role in US drone strikes (Reprieve)

The Guardian and the New York Times have today revealed the existence of documents showing the contribution made by UK intelligence agency GCHQ to US drone strikes in Yemen.

The British Government has to date refused to comment on its role in such strikes, describing them consistently as “a matter for the Yemeni and US Governments.”

However, legal charity Reprieve has previously raised concerns over European complicity in covert drone strikes – considered by many experts to be in violation of international law – through the sharing of intelligence and the provision on infrastructure.

In Germany, Reprieve has helped civilian drone strike victim Faisal bin ali Jaber to bring a case against the Government over the role played in Yemen strikes by the military base at Ramstein.

Meanwhile, in the UK, Reprieve unearthed a contract showing that a high-tech data link had been provided between RAF Croughton – a base leased by the US in Lincolnshire – and Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, from where US strikes against Yemen have reportedly been launched.

Commenting, Reprieve legal director Kat Craig said: “This is yet more damning evidence of the key role played by the UK in the illegal US drone war. This campaign has taken place in the shadows, killing hundreds of civilians while leaving their families with no access to justice.  President Obama won’t even confirm it is taking place; while the UK and Germany follow his lead by stonewalling questions on the part they play. It is time Europe came clean on the support it provides to this misguided campaign, which the evidence suggests is making the world a more dangerous place for all of us.”

Islamic State: Shaykh Adnani “O Our People Respond to the Caller of Allah” (English translation)

cim_3ccweaa6ksn

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

O Our People Respond to the Caller of Allah – English translation of Audio Statement by Shaykh Abu Muhammad al-Adnani as-Shami

All praise is due to Allah, the Strong and Mighty. And may blessings and peace be upon the one sent with the sword as a mercy to all the worlds. As for what follows:

Allah (‘azza wa jall) said, {O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion, Allah will bring forth in place of them a people He will love and who will love Him who are humble toward the believers, powerful against the kāfirīn; they perform jihād for the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allah; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing} [Al-Mā’idah: 54].

And He (subhānah) said {O you who have believed, fight those adjacent to you of the kuffār and let them find in you harshness} [At-Tawbah: 123].

And He (subhānah) said {Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the kuffār, merciful among themselves} [Al-Fath: 29].

And He (subhānah) said {There has already been for you an excellent example in Ibrāhīm and those with him, when they said to their people, “Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone”} [Al-Mumtahinah: 4].

Indeed, amongst the traits of Allah’s slaves, the mujāhidīn for His cause, whom He favored with His love towards them and their love towards Him, those He selects from His creation to establish His rule and govern with His Sharī’ah is that they are mighty against the kuffār, supreme, and defiant. They are supreme by their creed and tawhīd, not through themselves. They are defiant by their certainty that victory, strength, and triumph are for them by the grace of Allah, not by their weapons nor their numbers.

They go on with what their Lord has ordered them, not fearing the blame of the people, because the Lord of the people loves them. They are not concerned of how many of the people’s laws, traditions, and customs they oppose for the sake of Allah’s order. They don’t fear any catastrophes, no matter how much the people gather together against them, because Allah is with them. They are severe and harsh against the kuffār like the beast on its prey.

Those whom Allah (tabāraka wa ta’ālā) has chosen, selected, and bestowed His grace upon so that they establish His religion and impose His rule, disassociate from the kuffār, break off from them, and announce animosity and hatred towards them. They don’t ally with them and don’t compromise for them. They don’t live amongst them and sit in their shades. They don’t appease them even if they are their family, tribe, or people. This is the condition of those who establish Allah’s Sharī’ah. They don’t change no matter what disturbs them in their long path of trials and tribulations.

We see in these years of deception those who claim jihād and the struggle to support Allah’s religion and establish His Sharī’ah, while they deviated from the path of the Prophets. They have sought a guidance other than the guidance of our Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and his noble Companions. You will see him fearing the days of defeat. He fears the blame of the public. He flatters the kuffār and compromises for them. He acts out for them and appeases them. Rather, he allies with them, defends them, and shows affection towards them.

You will see him hastening to build a relationship with them, by sweet-talking them and by rushing to open offices amongst them and under their rule, hoping to gain from them and to avoid their harm. You will see him pleading and begging for their help, aid, and support.

Whereas the Islamic State has known the path of honor, the path of our Prophet Muhammad (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam). It followed his footsteps and held on to his guidance. It will not change nor deviate from it, inshā’allāh.

We will continue on our path, with Allah’s permission. We do not fear the blame of the blamers. We do not care even if the people attack us all from a single bow and no matter how many nations rush against us or how many swords strike us. We do not care. Even if the donkeys of knowledge stumble in the mud, it will not harm us, with Allah’s permission, because we are upon insight from our Lord. We didn’t bring anything from ourselves nor did we do anything more than holding on to the Book of our Lord and the Sunnah of our Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

O Muslims everywhere, we congratulate you on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadān arriving. We praise Allah for making us reach this significant month. Take advantage of this great opportunity, O slaves of Allah, hasten towards righteous deeds and search for the best of them. And the best of the deeds to draw closer to Allah is jihād. So hasten towards it. Aspire to battle in this noble month and to attain shahādah in it, because a voluntary act in this month is equal to an obligatory act in the rest of the months, and an obligatory act is increased tenfold.

So the wise and intelligent is the one who aspires to continue jihād and battling in Ramadān. No acts of worship are equal to jihād. And jihād in Ramadān is not matched by jihād in other months. So glad tidings to the one who spends Ramadān as a fighter for the cause of Allah, and glad tidings to the one whom Allah selects in this blessed month and accepts as a shahīd. Allah may increase the reward of a shahīd tenfold in Ramadān in comparison to other months. So, O Muslims embark and hasten towards jihād. And O mujāhidīn everywhere, rush and move to make Ramadān a month of disasters for the kuffār.

O Ahlus-Sunnah everywhere and we specially mention those in Iraq, you have begun to experience with the Rāfidah a reality that we had warned you about in the past. You have begun to live it as a reality and witness it with the eye of certainty, in Baghdad, Dayālā, al-Anbār, Karkūk, and Salahuddīn. You are not unaware of the abductions, murders, eviction of Ahlus-Sunnah every day in Baghdad. A Sunnī has no courage to reveal his religion there, nor is it possible for him to enter it. Who among you is able to name his son ‘Umar, ‘Uthmān, or Mu’āwiyah? Who among you can enter Baghdad today? The Rāfidah do not allow a Sunnī to enter Baghdad. Rather they don’t even allow those falsely considered as “Sunnī” to enter it. They don’t allow their servants, their followers, and their dogs from among the apostates of the Sahwāt, police, and army to enter it, for the reason that they are assumed to be from Ahlus-Sunnah by name, despite their long term services for them, despite their devotion to defend them, despite them being Safawī more than the Safawiyyīn themselves.

Ask about the apostate Sunnī officer from al-Anbār who was a boot of the Safawiyyīn, and was defending them against the mujāhidīn. His condition didn’t help him with the Rāfidah. When he fled from the mujāhidīn to Baghdad, the Rāfidah stopped him at the entrance of the city and bargained for his daughters, and it was a shock that awakened him and turned him away from his deviance. He then returned to al-Anbār, to the mujāhidīn, repenting.

The Rāfidah will never show mercy towards Ahlus-Sunnah if they gain control over them. How could they show them mercy? While they believe killing the Sunnī draws them closer to their false “gods,” even if this “Sunnī” fully abandoned his religion and only carried its name, and even if he was a servant or a slave for them who was devoted to serving and defending them.

And we do not speak to you today about an expected future, but we speak to you about facts you came to live with certainty. As soon as the Rāfidī Mobilization entered al-‘Āmiriyyah, it started assaulting the bases of the Sahwāt, the Sahwāt of treason and betrayal. As soon as the Rāfidī Mobilization entered ad-Dulū’iyyah; they prevented the Friday prayer. And you saw what they did in Dayālā, Salāhuddīn, and al-Anbār of burning down masājid and blowing them up, as well as the killing, slaughter, burning, and eviction of Ahlus-Sunnah, looting their wealth and pillaging their properties. You came to live these facts with certainty, O Ahlus-Sunnah.

Has the news of the jewelers and money-changers reached you, those who were abducted in Sāmarrā’ and then returned as motionless corpses? Have you forgotten the recent incident of al-A’dhamiyyah and the shouts of the Rāfidah there and what they proclaimed against you when they burned your homes and cars? Do you not hear them threatening you every day, O people of al-Anbār, describing you as “the head of the snake,” and intimidating you? O Ahlus-Sunnah, do you not see thousands and thousands of your people succumbing to the prisons of South Baghdad? Do you not know that amongst them are 1300 of the chaste, pure women? And this is only what has been made public and has been documented.

O Ahlus-Sunnah everywhere, the Crusaders resolved to clear Iraq of Ahlus-Sunnah completely and to make it purely Rāfidī. So wake up, O Ahlus-Sunnah everywhere, because the matter is serious! The Rāfidah have unveiled their true face. The extent of their enmity and animosity against you has become apparent to you, and the Crusaders’ enmity and animosity against you is not less than that of the Rāfidah. {Neither those who disbelieve from the People of the Scripture nor the mushrikīn wish that any good should be sent down to you from your Lord} [Al-Baqarah: 105]. {And they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able} [Al-Baqarah: 217].

Indeed, by Allah’s grace, the Crusaders lost hope of extinguishing the jihād in Iraq. They were unable to distance Ahlus-Sunnah from the mujāhidīn and they were unable to recruit them via what is referred to as the political process. Thus, the Crusaders lost this battle and Ahlus-Sunnah generally began rallying around the mujāhidīn. The Jews were frightened and alarmed by the daily bay’āt of the tribal leaders and dignitaries to the mujāhidīn.

They therefore decided to sell Iraq to the Rāfidah, Iran, and the atheists of the Kurds so that they may carry out the killing, incarceration, and eviction of Ahlus-Sunnah. This is a fact that has become as clear as the sun at noontime and this is the Crusaders’ true strategy in their war against the Khilāfah. Thus – with a fatwā of the accursed, filthy as-Sistānī, the muftī of the Crusaders – the creation of the Rāfidī Mobilization was completed, and it was trained and armed within a short period, and also fully supplied and provided with Crusader air cover. The door was opened wide for the Rāfidah to come from all countries. They formed the brigades, militias, parties, and groups, and even opened for every party – nay, every brigade – a satellite channel that broadcasts for it.

While in contrast, we see the apostates of Ahlus-Sunnah complaining to the Crusaders and kissing their feet so that they may arm them, all to no avail. The Rāfidah-controlled areas are gradually being cleared of Ahlus-Sunnah by killing, incarcerating, and evicting them. There are arrests of hundreds of them every day and the displaced people of Ahlus-Sunnah are not given permission to return to their houses in the areas which the Rāfidah take. Who has returned to Dayālā or Tikrīt? Who has returned to Jurf as-Sakhr or al-Kar’ūl, or al-‘Uwaysāt, or any other places? The displaced people of Ahlus-Sunnah are not given permission to enter any area that is controlled by the Rāfidah, especially the people of al-Anbār – and whoever of them managed to enter Baghdad is pursued and raided, to be killed, incarcerated, or evicted. Do you not read the signboards in Baghdad on which are written: “Whoever shelters a displaced person from al-Anbār is a terrorist.”

Thus, the displaced ones from the people of al-Anbār were abandoned outdoors, with the desert heat burning them, and some of them refuse even until now to return to their people and their religion. They suffer pain and drink from the cup of humiliation, and there is no power nor might except with Allah! And we did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves.

This is nothing but the result of their abandonment of jihād and the loyalty of some of their sons to the Rāfidah and the Crusaders as well as these sons joining of the Sahwāt and the Safawī army, seeking glory with them. So Allah humiliated them. {And he whom Allah humiliates – for him there is no bestower of honor} [Al-Hajj: 18]. And this is also confirmation of the hadīth of Allah’s Messenger (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam), “When you trade in ‘īnah (a form of usury), cling to the tails of cows, and abandon jihād, Allah will bestow upon you a humiliation which He won’t lift until you return to your religion.” O people of al-Anbār, return to your houses and return to your people. Return to your religion!

And because the situation has reached this point and perhaps the murtaddīn from amongst those claiming to be Sunnī now know the reality of the Rāfidah, we say: It has reached us that many of them are determined to flee from the anvil of the Rāfidah, but are unable to do so due to their fear of our hammer. And for the purpose of being excused in front of Allah and then in front of the Muslims, and in response from Amīrul-Mu’minīn to the appeals of the leaders and dignitaries of the tribes, we hereby give the Sahwāt and those remaining with the Rāfidah – in the army and police – one final opportunity, and call them once more to repent. This is for all of them without exception, for we do not exclude officers or criminals, and we do not stipulate anything on them other than to surrender their weapons as a sign of their truthfulness.

We do not exclude anyone from having their repentance accepted this time, not even the Jaghāyifah clan in Hadīthah who have repeatedly apostatized, and this despite the fact that we are speaking from a position of strength and currently have Hadīthah under siege and may enter it at any moment. This is a precious opportunity for you and for all apostates, so seize it and repent in this virtuous month. Perhaps Allah will turn to you in forgiveness.

And if Allah bestows His grace upon us and we enter Hadīthah before you repent, then I swear that we will make you an example for generations to come, such that people will pass by Hadīthah and say, “There used to be a clan called Jaghāyifah here and homes that belonged to the Jaghāyifah.”

We likewise renew our call to the soldiers of the factions in Shām and Libya. We call on them to think long before embarking to fight the Islamic State, which rules by that which Allah revealed. Remember, O you afflicted by fitnah, before embarking to fight the Islamic State, that there is no place on the face of the Earth where the Sharī’ah of Allah is implemented and the rule is entirely for Allah except for the lands of the Islamic State. Remember that if you were able to capture one hand span, one village, or one city from it, the rule of Allah in that area would be replaced with the rule of man. Then ask yourself, “What is the ruling on someone who replaces or is a cause for the replacement of the rule of Allah with the rule of man?” Yes, you become a disbeliever because of that. So beware, for by fighting the Islamic State you fall into kufr whether you realize it or not.

Then think of all the pretexts that the callers upon the gates of Hell are using to get you to fight the Islamic State. You will find that they are all false pretexts. So think and reflect, O soldier afflicted by fitnah, and look with the eye of impartiality, not with the eye of a biased faction. Look with the perspective of the Sharī’ah and the evidence, and then don’t turn to the fatāwā of the donkeys of knowledge who’ve stumbled and fallen in trash. Do not let their famous reputations deceive you, even if they have a long history of writing and authorship, for they neither left the laps of the tawāghīt, nor marched forth to jihād. They spent their entire lives remaining behind with the women in their rooms, hunting the slip-ups and mistakes of the mujāhidīn. If they perform ribāt, their ribāt is on the frontiers of Twitter, and if they take part in battle, their battle is in the form of an interview on satellite TV. They have never fired a single bullet for the cause of Allah, nor have they witnessed a single scene or episode on the battlefield with the mujāhidīn.

It may be that if one of them wanted to join a faction, they would not accept him. And if he were accepted, he would not remain long before either he discarded them or they discarded him. It may be that if he were to contemplate, he would discover that his arrogance is what prevents him from marching forth, for his inner self would not obey him with regards to placing himself under the authority of any leader. It may be that he has never considered taking part in battle and will never consider doing so.

And after all that, even as a sinner sitting back from jihād, he wants to make himself out to be an authority for jihād and the mujāhidīn. Never!

I am from amongst those least in need of a pretender, who considers the people misguided while he himself is not guided.

When you attempt to lead the truth with falsehood it refuses, and if you were to lead the firmly anchored mountains with the truth they would submit. [Poetry]

O soldier afflicted by fitnah, be careful whom you take your religion from, and repent to your Lord so that perhaps He may have mercy on you and guide you. Furthermore, have you not taken a lesson, O factions and Sahwāt? Have you not taken a lesson from your predecessors’ fight against the Islamic State ten years ago? Where are the factions that fought the Islamic State? Where are the Sahwāt? Have you not taken a lesson, O factions of Libya? Have you not taken a lesson, O Sahwāt of Darnah? Have you not taken a lesson, O factions of Khurāsān? What will you gain from fighting the Islamic State? Does one of you desire to dig his grave with his own hands, or wish to have his head cut off, or his house demolished? What will you gain from fighting the Islamic State, O factions? Do you think that you will be able to eradicate it? Do you think that you are stronger in might than the Sahwāt of Iraq backed by America and its allies? Will you not take a lesson from the factions of Shām and their Sahwāt?

Stop your war against the Islamic State, O factions everywhere, and repent to your Lord. Do not stand between it and the Jews, the Crusaders, and the tawāghīt. As for he who insists on fighting it, let him not wail thereafter, or slap himself in grief, nor blame anyone but himself.

O Ahlus-Sunnah everywhere, and specifically our people in Jordan, Bilād al-Haramayn, and Lebanon, if you do not rush to help the people of the Sunnah in Iraq and Shām, then rush to help yourselves. Do not let your condition become like the condition of the one who said, “I was eaten the day that the white bull was eaten.” And if your īmān has become weak, your religious adherence has decreased, your resolve has failed, and you have left off and abstained from jihād, then do not let your honor and manhood die, for how can you enjoy life and live in pleasure in your homes while your brothers from Ahlus-Sunnah are being butchered and driven out of their lands, and their homes are being destroyed, their wealth is being looted, and their women are being violated? And this was not done except with Crusader planes that take off from within your midst, are financed by your wealth, and are fueled by your oil.

May Allah’s curse be upon your rulers! And may Allah’s curse be upon those of you who ally with them and support them! May Allah’s curse be upon the evil scholars, the donkeys of knowledge who drug you to sleep with their fatāwā, supporting the tawāghīt and consolidating their thrones. Wake up, O Ahlus-Sunnah in Lebanon, Jordan, and Bilād al-Haramayn! Rise up against your corrupt kāfir rulers. Rise up against them before you become regretful when regret does not benefit you.

Do not sleep away, as the people of Yemen kept sleeping until its tāghūt kindled the fire of the Rāfidah in every part of the land, and then you race to extinguish it when it has already surrounded you and are thus incapable.

I see a fire being ignited from afar, whose rays extend to every region.

Banī ‘Abbās slept in its wake, so it became secure and nurtured.

Banī Umayyah likewise slept, and then raced to drive it back when it was too late. [Poetry]

O our people in Lebanon, Jordan, and Bilād al-Haramayn, we have warned you for years. The Rāfidah are advancing towards you. And your war with them is undoubtedly approaching, so you either march forth for it now and drive it back, or remain asleep and wake up to what the people of Iraq, Shām, and Yemen awoke to of killing, imprisonment, exile, the destruction of their homes, the looting of their wealth, and the violation of their women.

O you who sees the condition of Shām and weeps. What has affected you and what are you waiting for?

If the people are alarmed at what occurred in Bardā, then what is at the Euphrates and the two shores of the Tigris is amazing.

I see blood flowing along their banks, moistening and tainting the earth.

Baghdad is looking on while intestines are flapping, eyes are flowing with tears, and hearts are waiting in anticipation.

Where is ar-Rashīd and his days of past? Where are the guardians and the top youth?

What can a person hope for or fear more while the souls have been distressed by a life full of fear?

Pour upon my heart as fire the thirst for revenge brought by sorrow. And leave my heart for something else in which it will blaze.

There is no excuse for a people who, when we till them march forth, they refuse. Resolve is mobilized and good thought is delegated.

What do you hope for from security and comfort while wealth is looted and souls are destroyed?

O Ummah of courage, where is the courage? Harm has hindered you. O Ummah of glory, where are the glory and nobility?

Do not accept injustice and defend your honor. Honor is of those matters which even the Arabs would defend.

I see the honorable peoples always busied by the determination of leaders, not by distraction and play.

Either the honor of life is protected by might from disgrace, else there is death and destruction.

Protect the lands and be a people of patience who do not lower the wing of humiliation even if they are distressed.

What do you expect other than to be surrounded? And then there will not be a refuge nor escape. [Poetry]

As for the mule of the Jews, the failing Obama, his incapable party, his weak coalition, and his defeated army, then we say: Throughout history we have never heard of tactical setbacks. But we promise you in the future with more and more setbacks, inshā’allāh, and with surprises followed by surprises. So watch, we are also watching.

And we congratulate the soldiers in al-Qawqāz of the Islamic State on the announcement of the wilāyah. We congratulate them on their bay’ah and their joining of the ranks of the Khilāfah. Amīrul-Mu’minīn has accepted your bay’ah and has appointed the noble shaykh Abū Muhammad al-Qadarī as Wālī over al-Qawqāz and advised him to have taqwā of Allah both in his private and public affairs as well as with kindness and softness towards those with him. We advise all the mujahidin in al-Qawqāz to join his caravan and to hear and obey him in everything except sin. And we ask Allah (ta’ālā) to keep you firm, support you, and grant you victory.

We also call all the mujāhidīn in Khurāsān who truthfully endeavor to implement the Sharī’ah of Allah to join the ranks of the Khilāfah. We call them to abandon discord, the discord of the factions, parties, and groups, for the Khilāfah gathers all the Muslims, the Shāmī, the Iraqi, the Yemeni, the Egyptian, the European, the American, and the African. It gathers the Arabs and the non-Arabs. It gathers the Hanafī, the Shāfi’ī, the Mālikī, and the Hanbalī. So come to your Khilāfah, for you have fought for long years to revive it and to implement the Sharī’ah of Allah. Here it is now, revived. So join its ranks and do not be like the Jews about whom Allah (ta’ālā) said, {When there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it} [Al-Baqarah: 89]. So come and let your allegiance be to your Lord, and your religion, not to your nations, peoples, lands, or factions.

And in Khurāsān there are those who claim to be mujāhidīn fī sabīlillāh while being an ally of the Pakistani intelligence or others. We warn these people and call them to repent. Whoever does not repent and announce his repentance, then he has no one to blame but himself. O mujāhidīn, do not show these likes any pity nor mercy.

O soldiers of the Islamic State everywhere. These are the battlefields before you, these are your arms, and here is Ramadān. Renew your intention before Allah (‘azza wa jall). Be sincere to Him (subhānah). Adhere to renewing it. And repent to Allah regarding your private and public affairs and seek His forgiveness. Do much in repenting and seeking forgiveness. And know that Allah (‘azza wa jall) did not promise to give the mujāhidīn victory in every event. Rather, the established way of Allah (tabāraka wa ta’ālā) is to alternate the days of victory and defeat and to make war have its ups and downs. Allah (ta’ālā) said, {If a wound should touch you – there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people} [Āl ‘Imrān: 140]. So the mujāhidīn fī sabīlillāh might lose a battle or battles. Rather, turns of misfortune might overtake them and thus they lose cities and areas, but they are never defeated at all, for Allah (‘azza wa jall) made the final outcome and ultimate victory for them if they fear Him and are patient. But before so, it is necessary for tests and tribulations. So if you lose land, then you will regain it and more, inshā’allāh, even if after some time. This is because the final outcome and consolidation, by Allah’s permission, is for you. And the enemies of Allah are in front of you. Attack them everywhere. Make the earth shake beneath them. And be patient and firm, for Allah is with you.

O Muslims, this is a blessed hour on a blessed day. I will supplicate, so say āmīn. O Allah, support the mujāhidīn everywhere fighting for Your cause. O Allah, make their hearts steadfast, plant their feet firmly, and grant them an overwhelming victory and clear conquest. O Allah make this month a month of victories for the Muslims everywhere and make it a month of disasters, defeats, and disgrace for the kuffār everywhere. O Allah, deal with everyone who declares the blood of the mujāhidīn fighting for Your cause as halāl and wages war against them under the pretext that they are Khawārij. O Allah, splinter their unity, divide their gathering, and break all of their backs. O Allah, deal with everyone who incites against the mujāhidīn fighting for Your cause and gives verdicts ordering to kill them under the pretext that they are Khawārij. O Allah, make them succumb to diseases and calamities. O Allah, make them an example for the people and an admonishment. There is no god but You. You are exalted. Indeed, we have been from the wrongdoers. O Allah, send blessings and peace upon Muhammad and upon all of his family and companions. And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the creation.

End

Afghanistan: Islamic Emirate release statement delivered at Oslo Conference

21_08_50

Full text of the statement delivered by head of the Political Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Oslo Conference (Forum)

Translation: (O ye who believe! Be steadfast in the cause of ALLAH, bearing witness in equity; and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just. That is nearer to righteousness. And fear ALLAH. Surely, ALLAH is Aware of what you do.)

Prior to my expressions according the scheduled agenda of this Forum, I would like to clarify and renounce, to the present Afghans in our native Pashto language, the wrong perception that instead of reconciling with Afghans, the Islamic Emirate is negotiating with foreigners. For the last five years, due to some relaxation in the circumstances, the Islamic Emirate has initiated a series of meetings with various Afghan individuals and circles. Several sessions have been held and the process is incessant. The reason for not holding direct talks with the Kabul administration is their lack of authority in solving strategic issues as the essential element of the present Afghan dilemma and various other issues is America and her foreign allies. It is a bitter fact which should be realized. Now I would like to address the foreigners in their own language.

Respected participants! Regretfully saying that two of our prominent colleagues each Moulavi Shahabbudin Dilawar and Qari Deen Mohammad Hanif could not come here to participate in this meeting due to the ‘Black-List’ restrictions. Now, I would like to come to the main issue.

If you ponder over the recent past history of Afghanistan, it is quite clear that the Islamic Movement of Taliban inside Afghanistan came into being to safeguard the lives and properties of our own people, to preserve the integrity of our country, to control the anarchy and to end the warlord system.

The Islamic Movement of Taliban was an indigenous Afghan and national movement whose source of strength was the overwhelming support and devotion of our own people and this was the main reason in their successful restoration of peace and stability in most parts of the country. The properties, lives and honor of the people were protected, opium cultivation and drug trafficking were banned, the country was unified and a single stable Islamic System was implemented in the country. But unfortunately, from the very beginning, negative propaganda was launched against it and their progress was halted by various lame excuses. Eventually America invaded Afghanistan without any legal justification and occupied it.

During the entire span of previous fourteen years of occupation, a military strategy was adopted by America against Afghanistan and Mujahidin, in which thousands of innocent Afghans who had no links with the 9/11 incident were martyred, injured and made to suffer from various fatal diseases due to the indiscriminate use of chemical weapons.

Numerous innocent people were imprisoned in Bagram, Guantanamo and various other visible and hidden detention centers and were brutally tortured. They were kept in these jails for years without any trial, many of them are still living there in excruciating and oppressed conditions. Our houses and orchards were demolished, our religious sanctities and dead bodies of martyrs were desecrated, even the funeral and wedding processions were indiscriminately bombed. But this strategy of force and suppression had no outcome except killing and demolition which left behind an irredeemable human catastrophe inside Afghanistan.

On the other hand, with the occupation of Afghanistan, America was dragged into a prolonged futile war. They suffered heavy casualties and colossal financial losses and the repercussions were not confined to America only but the whole world was shocked by worst economic recession. Similarly, the international political role of America was significantly undermined. They violated the very basic human rights which were highly claimed and boasted by them in the past. And their short and long term colonial plans remained deficient. If this strategy remains persistent, it will achieve them nothing except prolonging the sufferings of the oppressed Afghans. It will also incur, just like the past, irremediable losses and casualties for both America and her allies. If the invading countries sincerely want a change inside Afghanistan, first of all, a reality based policy must be adopted. The sovereignty of Afghanistan and the formation of self-governed system, which is the legitimate right of all Afghans, should be realized as peace can only be restored when justice is assured. Peace can never be restored in Afghanistan by domination, suppression and protraction of military invasion and the Islamic Emirate do believe in peaceful solution of all issues including the end of foreign occupation.

Peace and stability are the most basic needs of every individual, community and country. Tranquil life, economic, educational, cultural, social and political development cannot be achieved without peace.

Afghans are not fond of fighting. Actually, they hate the war. They are not involved in any detrimental activities anywhere in the world rather they have always been attacked and violated by others.

Afghans are deeply devoted to their creed and country. They have bravely defended their homeland and national values throughout the history and are ready to defend their just rights even today.

Afghans do believe in reciprocity though they need support in all the economic, educational, social and cultural walks of life.

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, which has evolved from its people, has simultaneously undertaken both military and diplomatic endeavors to defend the country and to get rid of foreign occupation. The objective is the restoration and implementation of an Afghan-inclusive Islamic system of life which could preserve the previous tremendous sacrifices of the people and could guarantee justice, stability, progress, economic prosperity while representing all the people.

In 2010, for the first time the Islamic Emirate agreed, after getting approval from honorable Amir-ul-Momineen Mulla Mohammad Umar Mujahid, to sit on the negotiating table with the United States of America for finding a peaceful solution for the Afghan problem. As confidence building measures, the following issues were discussed:

  1. Exchange of prisoners.
  2. The nullification of ‘Black List’ and ‘Award List’.
  3. Inauguration of a Political Office.

But it was the Kabul based administration which created hurdles against the implementation of above measures. In 2011, when America and the Islamic Emirate agreed upon opening the office and exchange of Guantanamo prisoners, the Kabul administration protested and summoned their ambassador from Doha back to Kabul.

In 2013, when the political office of the Islamic Emirate was re-initiated, the Kabul admin protested again that having a flag and title of ‘The Islamic Emirate’ implies parallel government and these inconsistent excuses were accepted by America which inevitably resulted in closing the office and cessation of this process.

Every likely peace process should include the restoration of Islamic system, the end of occupation and the abolition of all hurdles mentioned above.

In this perspective, we inferred that the decisive and main role player in the Afghan dilemma is America therefore, negotiation with Kabul administration without holding talks with the Americans are useless.

Islamic Emirate do believe in all rights of women which are conferred by the sacred religion of Islam. She is the founder of our Muslim society. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘The best amongst you is the one who is the most benevolent to his family (i.e. spouse)’. The Islamic Emirate is determined to abolish all the prevailing un-Islamic traditions against women and provide them a secure and conforming circumstances where they could live a peaceful and serene life.

The Islamic Emirate is committed to all human, political, economic, social and cultural rights of every individual Afghan. We have struggled for it and this process is incessant.

The Islamic Emirate follows a clear and well-organized policy and strategy for the prevention of civilian losses and casualties which is made public from time to time. It has been conveyed to all Mujahidin and severe measures have been taken for its effective implementation.

The Islamic Emirate is never interested in dragging its own people into the flames of war. Since it has emerged amongst the people and works for the people therefore, whosoever suffers, the Islamic Emirate equally feels and suffers. On the contrary, recent reports and surveys testify that in the previous fourteen years of American occupation, nearly two hundred thousand (200,000) people have been killed and wounded inside Afghanistan and this process of slaughter is incessant.

Similarly, building of public welfare foundations is considered as an inevitable and essential requirement for our war ravaged homeland. Bridges, tunnels, dams, irrigation systems, power stations, mines extraction, oil refineries, educational institutions, madrassas, mosques, schools, universities, health centers, clinics, hospitals and likewise other places of public welfare are considered as public property by the Islamic Emirate whose protection is amongst one of its foremost obligations. The honorable head of the Islamic Emirate, Amer-ul-Momineen, Mulla Mohammad Umar Mujahid has always, in his regular Eid felicitation messages, insisted upon the protection of lives, properties and honor of the ordinary people so that civilian losses are prevented and public foundations are safeguarded.

The Islamic Emirate reiterates its policy and reassures the neighboring and regional countries and the world community that the Islamic Emirate has no intentions of either harming them or their citizens nor will it allow anyone else to exploit the soil of Afghanistan for carrying out such activities.

On the basis of reciprocal reverence, the Islamic Emirate insists on having cordial relations with other countries of the world and welcomes the positive and constructive role of each and every country which really aims at the sustaining development of Afghanistan and the true prosperity of Afghans.

The Islamic Emirate does not want Afghanistan to become the arena of rivalry and proxy war for others. For ensuring regional peace and stability, the Islamic Emirate is ready to co-operate with every country which believe in mutual understanding and does not interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

Respected participants! Now I would like to draw your attention towards the responsibilities and obligations of the international community:

The International community, America and all the neighboring countries should realize and admit all legitimate political and social rights of the Afghan nation besides their right of self-defense and the freedom of Afghanistan.

By keeping the prevailing ground realities in mind, the international community should play a constructive, impartial and positive role for the restoration of peace and stability in our country.

The United States of America and our neighboring countries should, by keeping in mind realities about the Islamic Emirate, respect its unity and independence. The more the people are oppressed, the more their spirit of freedom is aroused. Therefore, America and other involved sides should take constructive steps regarding the following issues:

  1. A place in the form of an office should remain open for negotiations and other necessary contacts. The Islamic Emirate should have the right to name this office as its Political Bureau (Office) and hoist its own flag there.

This office should be a permanent address for contacts, negotiations and meetings with Afghans, foreigners and international humanitarian organs. The Islamic Emirate should enjoy the right to utilize media and other resources for its political purposes.

Similarly, this office should not remain confined to negotiations only as talks can flourish, fail or even postpone.

Those members and officials of the Islamic Emirate who want to visit this office for participation in peace talks or tackling any other human or health issue, should have the right of safe and unrestricted movement.

  1. Peace Process, Black List and the Award List are contradictory terms to one another therefore the United Nations and America should remove the leadership and other members of the Islamic Emirate from these lists because, in these reciprocal processes, it is necessary that all sides should have free and safe movements.
  2. The Americans are not committed to their own pledges as well as the international norms. I would like to mention the example of those detainees who were freed from Guantanamo Jail last year.

Our five dignitaries were freed from Guantanamo Jail in exchange for the American captive Bowe Bergadahl and were living in Qatar according to the conditions agreed upon. Though a complete year has lapsed but still they are under restrictions which should have automatically been annulled after one year according to the agreement.

The Islamic Emirate seriously calls upon the Americans to fulfil their promises and comply with international rules and regulations and to refrain from impeding the freedom of these detainees as it is completely against the agreement.

  1. Similarly, it was committed by the Americans that the colleagues and relatives of the above mentioned detainees can visit them in Qatar but when one detainee was visited by two of his relatives, Anas Haqqani plus another one, on the way back from Qatar via Bahrain as transit passenger, contrary to all promises and commitments, they were detained by American agencies and were handed over to Kabul regime which later on deceitfully announced that they were arrested from ‘Khost’ province during operations.

Therefore, we reiterate that Americans are not committed to their own pledges nor to the international norms and rules and this issue has been repeatedly conveyed to the envoy of the United Nations.

Our demand is that America, the United Nations and other related sides should play an urgent and serious role in the earliest possible release of these individuals.

Thanks.

End

Islamic State releases graphic new killing “spies” video on day human rights groups call for accountability for CIA torture.

The latest video offering from the Islamic State (IS) purports to show a series of graphic and torturous methods in killing prisoners, alleged “spies” which include drowning, burning alive by firing at a car with an RPG and decapitation by explosives. The video is in Arabic with no English subtitles however SITE INTEL that monitors jihadi and white supremacist groups states the video is from the Ninawa division of the Islamic State (IS).

Alleged CIA torture

Ironically the IS video is released on the same day as international human rights organizations attempt to hold the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) accountable for torture as follows,

The letter was attached to petitions signed by 111,788 concerned individuals supporting appointment of a special prosecutor” see following link,

The 7 minute 30 second video in Arabic starts by showing dead body parts in the rubble possibly an air attack and moves on to an injured man and child. A number of prisoners are then interviewed wearing the familiar orange jumpsuits. They are later escorted, hands behind back to a car where an IS militant is seen firing an RPG from several angle shots. The car ignites burning occupants alive in much the same way as a US drone strike incinerates a vehicle and those inside. The same nasheed chants feature as in the video showing the burning of the Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kaseasbeh.

More prisoners are interviewed and the film cuts to a metal cage in which 5 men are placed which is then secured with padlocks. There is the sound of a metal hoist lowering the cage toward the water, a camera is evident within the bars. The cage is fully submerged and desperate sounds of drowning men can be heard. The contraption is then lifted out of the water, the men are seen lying on top on one another, some with heads through the bars. There are close-ups of dead and dying prisoners with froth and fluids erupting gurgling from the mouth. The suffering is similar to that seen in videos where detainees are waterboarded, submerged almost to point of drowning, a regular practice of CIA and allies.

The video then moves to another group of 7 prisoners that are shown being bound with what appears to be electrical cable, some heads are then blown from their bodies with close up shots of decapitation. Again this is something which is observed after US drone strikes where bodies are decapitated, burnt and blown apart including women and children. The methods may be different but the result is often the same. The last shot is of one man alive dressed in an orange jumpsuit surveilling the scene of devastation.

Pakistan’s shame: Protesters demonstrate in Peshawar at killing of IDPs by security forces in Baka Khel

CILMD9qUcAA8TbD

IDPs appeal to UN for justice (image via Tariq Afghan)

As if Pakistan’s Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) haven’t suffered enough, forced to abandon their homes and land so military operations against militants could be carried out in the Tribal Areas of Pakistan… now they face violence from security forces. In what can only be described as the utmost hypocrisy, IDPs are lauded for their sacrifices yet attacked in what is supposed to be a place of safety. Such killing makes a nonsense of displacing people on the grounds that it is to protect their lives during conflict.

On Sunday evening a protest against conditions at a camp in Baka Khel Camp in Bannu led to the deaths of 2 IDPs with another 11 suffering injuries according to locals. Around 30,000 IDPs are said to reside in the camp, many seeking shelter following the launch of Operation Zarb-e-Asb in June 2014 in North Waziristan.

Newsweek Pakistan reported the following,

“the problem occurred in the evening when dozens of IDPs returned to the camp. Soldiers tasked with security at the entrance asked them for their gate pass, which led to an argument between the civilians and the security forces,” said Zohaib Wazeer, one of the displaced at the camp. “Other IDPs within the camp rushed to the aid of the displaced and started protesting against the security forces,” he added.

The altercation led to 2 IDPs being shot by security forces with 11 others wounded, 4 soldiers were also said to have been injured. A video was also circulating on Facebook which claimed to show dead and injured IDPs. There were concerns that the media were being prevented from entering the area to report on the incident and that IDPs were coming under attack for raising concerns over access to water. Such concerns should be handled with patience and sensitivity for their suffering not by brutal clampdown. Aggressive actions will only incite retaliation and put security at risk for all in IDP camps where there is little left to lose. Soldiers are not dealing with terrorists but ordinary civilians living in very challenging conditions, outside their normal environment, fearful of the future and tired of waiting to return home.

The following photos (related to the video) are alleged to be of wounded IDPs showing one deceased and were posted on Twitter by TV journalist Farooq Mahsud from South Waziristan.

A tweet from Farwad Ali Shah, reporter at Express Tribune suggested 5 IDPs may have died in recent days but did not give details of cause of death,

Five bodies of were shifted to IDPs Camp in Bannu for burial…

Tribal elders along with Jameela Gilani and members of Pukhtoon S.F are now holding a protest outside Peshawar Press Club against the killing of IDPs in Baka Khel Camp. Banners were raised displaying slogans which read, “we are humans, we are innocent” “we are Pakistani not terrorist” and “stop Pashtun genocide”. Waziristan students criticised the army for killing IDPs. Images of the demonstration were posted on Twitter by Tariq Afghan, a lawyer and political scientist who works for peace, human rights and is a social activist.

Supporters of IDPs also took to social media to vent their anger and frustration under the hashtag #DisplacedPashtuns The following comments relating to displaced persons appeared on Twitter,

Bushrar Gohar,

Humiliated & used as cannon fodder for strategic interests. Killed & injured for wanting water.

Iftikhar Firdous,

The blackout of the IDPs from the mainstream media will only aggravate the already marginalised. A dangerous precedent.

Faiz Baluch,

Pashtuns wake up now, stop being loyal to your killers (Pakistan).

Yasir Khawaja,

The Federally Abandoned Tribal Areas merely a buffer zone for with zero rights for the

Nazrana Yousufzai,

Wait !! I want to ask do at all ??

Ehsan Mahsud,

We (Mahsud Tribe) strongly condemn the brutal act of armed forces IDPs in Bakakhel.

Sulaiman Mandanr,

“security” forces are supposed to provide security to while they torture them during the month of fasting.

Saleem Mehsud,

#Waziristan #IDPs must leave . Corrupt Officials earning via corruption from fund in Camp

Bushra Gohar, a local politician and rights activist criticized further the treatment of IDPs telling AFP, “there are still over a million IDPs (internally displaced persons) living in miserable conditions away from their homes, with no signs of reconstruction or rehabilitation of their destroyed homes and livelihoods.”

Despite undertakings from Nawaz Sharif government that IDPs would be compensated for their losses and supported to rebuild their lives, those that have returned home paint a picture of ongoing struggle. Many feeling largely abandoned by authorities with little hope for the future, the level of compensation matches nowhere near what they have lost, see following link,

“Pakistan: IDPs returning home face corruption, undertakings on security and will never be fully compensated for their losses.”

https://activist1.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/pakistan-idps-returning-home-face-exploitation-corruption-undertakings-on-security-and-will-never-be-fully-compensated-for-their-losses/

IDPs have paid an enormous price for military operations and now on top of great personal sacrifice some are losing their lives at the hands of the very people assigned to protect them.

Islamic Emirate, (Afghan Taliban) spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for an attack on the parliament building in Kabul which included a suicide bomber, rocket attack and around 7 gunmen. Smoke was seen rising from vicinity of the building the detonation of an alleg car bomb. He stated, “we have launched an attack on parliament as there was an important gathering to introduce the country’s defence minister.” The assault is part of the Taliban offensive Azm meaning “Resolve, Perseverance or Determination”. Earlier this year Taliban gave the following warning,

“as usual, advanced fighting techniques will be exercised in these military operations of ‘Azm’. Martyrdom seeking attacks for the devastation of infidels, infiltration attacks among the enemy ranks, attacking the huge and relatively fortified centers of the enemy with heavy and long-range missiles, confrontational attacks against the already demoralized mercenary forces of the enemy and guerrilla attacks in all major cities are among the main tactics of these operations.”

The attack took place during a live television broadcast and caught the moment of explosion and MPs being evacuated from the building. There were conflicting reports as to whether the attackers were able to gain entry into the parliament building.

The following clip from local media of the blast which shook parliament building was posted by Hazaristan

Pajhwok Afghan News tweeted,

“Afghan members of Parliament and journalists there, are save, but few Secretariat employees are wounded.”

TOLO News tweeted the following,

and

KABUL – 21 civilians injured in Parliament attack – incl 5 women and 3 children: health officials

Security concerns in the region escalated as TOLO also reported a separate incident, stating, “BREAKING: Ministry of Interior confirms a Dutch national – a woman – was kidnapped in Kabul early Monday morning.” This comes only weeks after Islamic Emirate claimed responsibility for an attack on the Park Palace Guest House, Kabul where aid workers, locals and foreign officials were gathered for an evening of entertainment.

The Taliban have also gained ground in Kunduz where two districts have been taken in two days. On 20th June, Islamic Emirate Tweeted,

BREAKING Mujahidin overran Char Dara district HQ and 12 surrounding check posts (), 24 gunmen killed, 19 wounded & 25 detained.”

A tweet today from Taliban sources stated,

Mujahidin overran Dash Archi district HQ & 14 CPs, 28 gunmen killed, dozens wounded; 8 APCs, 15 vehicles + arms/ammo seized .”

The parliament attack is now reported to be over with deputy interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish informing AFP, “the attack has ended now. Seven attackers were involved ─ one detonated a car near the parliament building and six were killed by security forces after they entered a nearby building.” Islamic Emirate stated, “attack on Parliament ends, complete details will be updated later.”

Xenophobic Britain: Abdul Hamid Faruki responds to David Cameron’s speech at Security Conference, Bratislava

radical

Guest blog from Abdul Hamid Faruki

“silence is no longer an option”

“It is an Islamist extremist ideology, one that says the west is bad and democracy is wrong that women are inferior and homosexuality is evil. It says religious doctrine trumps the rule of law and caliphate trumps nation state and it justifies violence in asserting itself and achieving its aims.” – David Cameron

A Muslim who believes in their religion fully, wishes to hold certain viewpoints (which are also held by strict Catholics and Jews in Britain), who believes in an alternate governing system and who doesn’t publicly condemn ‘Islamic’ terrorism, apparently is an extremist or on the path towards it. The Prime Minister believes that the blame for ‘Muslim’ extremists should be at the door of the individual, and not anything else which may have contributed to a person becoming extreme. Some dangerous statements made by our leader. Listen to his full statement and you can sense he is addressing the whole British Muslim community for the violence that is being carried out in the name of Islam. At the very least, the far-right will see it this way. It gives groups like the EDL and Britain First more ammunition to justify their ongoing racial and hatred attack on Islam and Muslims.

On the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, Cameron has used a speech at a security conference in Slovakia to berate Muslims who buy in to a critique of the west, foreign policy and democracy. Does he sincerely believe the west has been so angelic over the last two decades, and has played no part in the growth of foreign and domestic terrorism? So shall we just forget that the west has killed over hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq? Shall we just forget that British and American soldiers have gone into villages and killed innocent men and women in Iraq? Shall we forget that British and American soldiers have raped Iraqi women? Shall we just forget the hundreds of Muslim children have been killed in air-strikes by Britain and America in the Middle-East and Asia? Shall we just forget that the CIA and MI5 have and continue to torture young Muslim boys after imprisoning them falsely, in order to get ‘information’ so the borders of America and Britain can be protected by any means necessary? Shall we just ignore the continuous stop and searches, raids, arrests and harassment of British Muslims only based on suspicion? Shall we just ignore the banning of Muslim civil liberties in Europe and the west? Shall we ignore the hypocrisy of allowing British Jews to go and fight with the murderous Zionist Israeli army, kill hundreds of Palestinian Muslim children and then return back to the UK with no questions asked? Yet when Muslims want to go Syria for Aid work, we are seen as potential terrorists. Similarly Muslims who have joined rebel groups (excluding ISIS who recently were given weapons by America ‘accidently’), and are fighting a regime that is killing innocent people, are labelled terrorists and the Jews are hailed as heroes for killing children.

This is no reason to justify terrorism, but to categorically deny that a radical Muslim only has him/herself to blame, is an absolute absurd and ignorant logic. Radicalisation has many factors that contribute to it, to ignore any one of them will not solve the problem. This is not the first time such statements have been made by the British government and the relevant authorities. The latest fashion also includes Muslims publicly condemning and apologising for ‘Islamic’ extremism around the world. If we don’t, then somehow we condone it. So the other 1.6 billion peaceful non-violent Muslims must apologies for attacks such as 9/11, 7/7, Charlie Hebdo, the rise of ISIS and other ‘Islamic’ extremism. Even though we had no involvement. Based on this, then surely there are some long due apologies and condemnations from others. Anytime now we should be expecting apologies from (to name a few) Buddhists; for the rise of killings of Innocent Muslims in Burma over the last few years. Jews; for the murder of over 500 Muslim children in Palestine in the summer of 2015. Christians; for the killings of approximately 6000 Muslims at the hands of Christian militias in the Central African Republic since 2013.

Since the so called war on terror began after 9/11, Islamophobia has significantly increased. As well as ‘Islamic’ extremism which I accept. However, this war on terror seems to have become a war on Islam. Fundamental Islamic beliefs and way of life have been distorted and taken out of context. Muslims have been marginalised and felt isolated in their own countries of residence and birth. We have collectively been accused, connected and punished for something which we are against. We are continually on the receiving end of hypocrisy and injustice. This has paved the way for ‘radical Islam’, which in turn then allows western powers to dominate and execute its occupation and plans in Muslims countries. It’s an evil circle that sees no immediate solution for peace. The moment each party recognises its problem, deals with it and tries to forge a tolerant relationship, then maybe, just maybe we will learn to value and appreciate human life and this world we live in.

The rest of the western world aside, if Britain wants to make statements like the Prime Minister made recently, then they shouldn’t be surprised of a backlash. If Britain wants to find out what extremism or Jihad (according to western mind-set) is, then Britain will soon find out. Continue to alienate and victimise Muslims, and we will bring Baghdad to Britain. Surely that’s what you want? For as long as we remain in this country, we will ensure we have the right and freedom to practice Islam, by any means necessary. Many of us have been born here and wish to live here for the rest of our lives. We want the same rights and freedoms as other minorities. It will take more than your draconian laws aimed at Muslims, to get rid of us or stop us from practicing our religion. Islam came as something strange, it’s not the first time we have faced injustice, and neither will it be the last. How far is this country willing to go? You can try to imprison us, kill or silence us, but for every Muslim you defeat, a hundred will rise. The western leaders and governments are as bad if not worse than those they are fighting in the east. Bush, Blair, Cameron, Obama, and the Queen of England, you are nothing but bullies. Your hands are tainted in blood of innocent people. You have no compassion or mercy, and we will not simple accept and allow your oppressive rule over us.

I conclude with this statement, and I speak for myself. I am a Muslim living in Britain. I believe in my religion fully with all its laws and legislations. Even those that may seem abnormal to you as non-Muslims. This is my choice and belief. I have not caused harm or been hateful to anyone who doesn’t follow in what I believe. I don’t see the need for me to publicly or privately condemn and condone acts of evil done by those who share my skin colour or faith. As I neither expect the same from others. When it comes to Jihad (taking up arms to defend), I stand behind it and will do till the end. I believe in the establishment of a proper regulated Caliphate (Islamic state) in accordance to Islamic law. Just as Jews believe they have a right to a Jewish state (Israel), then we as Muslims have a right to one. This does not call for the expulsion or eradicating of non-Muslims. Historically, Islamic Caliphates have exemplified its success and tolerance once established. I stand by those Muslims who conduct Jihad the proper way in foreign countries, in order to protect innocent civilians from murdering dictatorial regimes. Britain needs to be reminded of its history. It may be the past, but it has made the present. Learning from its mistakes will only better the future. If the current trend continues, then I since Britain will be on the verge of a civil war. It may not be on the same scale as the Arab spring, but it will be far worse than one can imagine. The change starts now.

Extreme enough for you?

“Injustice is what we fight, oppression is what we resist, Jihad is what we aspire and terrorism we denounce. Let us be clear to you in our mission.”

Al Qaeda: Prisoners Warren Weinstein and Giovanni Lo Porto allegedly reverted to Islam before being “martyred” in US drone strike

CHxZXHzUcAAphR2

Warren Weinstein (“Uncle Ishaq”) allegedly reverted to Islam in 2013

A statement released via Usama Mahmoud, spokesperson for Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) claims that American prisoner, aid worker Warren Weinstein (73) and Italian prisoner Giovanni Lo Porto (37) allegedly reverted to Islam whilst detained in Pakistan. Weinstein is referred to as “uncle Ishaq” whilst Lo Porto by the name “brother Muhammad”. Photos of the hostages including images of Weinstein praying were also released on social media.

Both men were killed in a controversial US “signature” drone strike in January 2015 near the Afghanistan/Pakistan border confirmed by Barack Obama in April when the President accepted “full responsibility” for their deaths. AQIS deputy emir Ahmed Farouq (Raja Muhammad Salman) a US citizen from the Pakistani city of Islamabad was also said to have been killed in the same strike. Signature strikes are drone strikes aimed at targets based on the movement of military aged males under surveillance for suspicious activities and are carried out under order of the CIA without information on any specific “wanted” person in the area chosen for a missile strike.

Reprieve (human rights organization) stated the following on hearing of the drone strike, “it’s right that the White House has come clean and admitted its tragic mistake in killing these hostages, and our hearts go out to their families…. It’s worth remembering, however, that Dr. Weinstein and Mr. Lo Porto are far from the first innocents to die by our drones.”

Back in 2013, the same year AQIS claim Weinstein became a Muslim, the Guardian reported that he wrote to journalists stating,

“I have appealed several times to President Obama to help me but to no avail. I am therefore writing now to the media to ask that you help me to gain my release and rejoin my family.

“I hope that the media can mount a campaign to get the American government to actively pursue my release and to make sure that I am not forgotten and just become another statistic. Given my age and my health, I don’t have time on my side.”

Weinstein was not only left without help but actually killed by his own government.

Lo Porto alleged to have reverted  to Islam 7 months before his “martyrdom” by US signature drone strike

Lo Porto who had been working on a water sanitation project following floods in the region was captured with a German friend Bernd Mühlenbeck with whom he shared a house in Pakistan. Mühlenbeck was later freed but did not wish to discuss the circumstances of his release.

Statement released via Usama Mahmoud as follows:-

Weinstein “martyred” due to US signature drone strike in January 2015

Americans neither killed the “jew” Warren Weinstein nor the “atheist”Giovanni Lo Porto!
الحمد للہ والصلوۃ والسلام علی رسول اللہ وبعد
All praise is due to Allah and may peace and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon the Messenger of Allah.
Americans neither killed Warren Weinstein nor Giovanni Lo Porto in a so called Anti-Terrorism campaign. But they martyred our esteemed and respected uncle Ishaq the American and respected brother Muhammad the Italian by targeting them in a drone strike. انّا للہ و اِنّا اِلیہ راجعون We certainly belong to Allah, and to Him we are bound to return.
May Allah accept the martyrdom of our brothers, and help the mujahideen of Ummah to revenge our American and Italian brothers from American infidels, Amin.
Uncle Ishaq(Warren Weinstein) (May Allah have mercy on him):
• Accurately understood the righteous jihad of mujahideen of Ummah against American oppression and barbarism.
• Recognized the grandeur of Islam’s modesty and mercifulness in place of the filthy western civilization.
• Observed the compassionate dealing of Muslims in mujahideen’s society instead of the American selfish and pleasure-loving society.
• Left the Jewish ignorance and filled his heart with the glory of Islam. Thus by accepting Islam, he left the army of Satan and joined the Army of Al-Rahman. Conduct of the mujahideen, recitation of the Holy Quran and listening to the lectures of the martyred Islamic Scholar Shaykh Anwar al Awlaki (may Allah have mercy on him) helped Uncle Ishaq to recognize the Truth. This blessed journey towards Islam was completed by Uncle Ishaq himself, without any coercion or enforcement.
• Felt the grief of the oppressed Muslim Ummah and yearned for the ascendency of Islam.
Same is the case of our brother Muhammad the Italian. Formerly he was an atheist but seven months before his martyrdom, due to the reading of the Holy Quran; the darkness of his heart changed into the Light of Iman. Surely, He is Allah the Almighty Who guides the misguided one.
After his reversion to Islam, the captor-mujahideen of the respected Warren Weinstein became his guardian brothers and started to call him “Chacha” (Urdu word for Uncle) with affection. He chose his Islamic name to be Ishaq. Uncle accepted Islam in the start of 2013 and from the first day of his Islam he started the blessed struggle to gain Islamic knowledge. Apart from his elderliness, Uncle proved himself to be a diligent student of the Islamic knowledge. Mujahideen in the Markaz (a living place of the mujahideen) considered him as their beloved and respected elder and felt honour in serving and taking care of him. Punctuality in prayers, fasting and perseverance in “Dhikr” and “Nawafil” was uncle’s especial attribute. Release of his oppressed Muslim sister, Aafia Siddiqui from the American captivity was his sincere wish. He also had a deep desire to revert his wife and daughter to Islam.
When Uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad got martyred in an American Drone strike in January 2015, an amazing fragrance was coming out of uncle’s body spreading all over the area. Many people wept involuntarily after observing this spiritual spectrum.
We, the mujahideen are grieved due to the separation of our beloved uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad but on the same time it’s a matter of joyfulness for us that Allah took them out from the narrowness of false beliefs, gave them the vast of Islam, saved them from the worst failure and disappointment, and embraced them with everlasting success and happiness (by the will of Allah). This hope is also a matter of delight for us that our Allah will gather us with our uncle and Brother Muhammad in paradise (by the will of Allah).
In a narration of Musnad al Ahmad, it is stated that:
Abu Umama (may Allah be pleased with him) says that once The Prophet (peace be upon him) smiled, we asked: “O Prophet of Allah! (peace be upon him) why did you smile?” The Prophet said, “I wonder at those people who will be entered in the Paradise in chains.”
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA):
The Prophet said, “Allah wonders at those people who will enter Paradise in chains.”(Al-Bukhari)
Interpreters of a hadith write that this hadith is about those people who were captured by Muslims and then after observing Islam and Muslims closely they accepted Islam and become worthy of the Paradise.
We pray to Allah (swt) that the destiny of UncleIshaq and Brother Muhammad would be according to the above mentioned hadith.
At this point we also want to remember our brothers Muzammil, Shoaib and Ali (may Allah have mercy on them), the guards of Uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad who loved them from the depths of their hearts. These brothers served for the comfort and pleasure of Uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad, motivated them to learn about Islam with their Islamic conduct and then cooperated with them to learn Quran, Hadith and Arabic language. It was their mutual love and prayers for each other that Allah sent them towards the Paradise alongside Uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad. May Allah accept their love and friendship and join us all under the shade of His throne in the hereafter.
{الأَخِلآَّءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلاَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ} القرآان
“Friends, on that day, will become enemies to one another, except the God-fearing.”
Here we want to declare that Mujahideen are well aware that the purpose of American network everywhere in Pakistan with the name of USAID and other American NGOs is to spread unbelief, and spread agents for their heinous intentions, likewise the officers of American Embassy in Pakistan are the agents of the American intelligence agency CIA and are linked with it in all matters. Uncle Ishaq exposed these foul activities of America in great detail and helped and guided mujahideen in various projects after reverting to Islam. May Allah bless our uncle with great rewards on such great service, Ameen.
Surely in the reversion to Islam of Uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad, there are signs for the possessors of intellect. On one side there are Muslim captives in American prisons with whom the stories of worst cruelty and injustice in Guantanamo, Abu-Gharib, and with oppressed Aafia Siddiqui show the real face of the American system, Muslim captives in the prisons of America and its allies yearn to enter the fields of Jihad and oftenly even offer themselves for martyrdom operations after being released; an example of this is Abu Dujana Al-Khurasani (may Allah have mercy on him),on the other side there are the examples of Uncle Ishaq, Brother Muhammad and Sister Maryam (Yvonne Ridley), who became fond of Islam and mujahideen in their prison, turned against the ignorant religions and by accepting Islam joined the ranks of Muslims and then presented their lives on the same path. Certainly this is due to the truthfulness of Islam and greatness of Jihad.
We find it necessary to inform the friends and family of the martyrs that the first and the last reason for your grief and sufferings is the American leadership and their policies based on oppression, whose aim is to:
• Enslave the Muslims,
• Oppress the Muslims all over the world from Palestine to Afghanistan,
• And to spread corruption and disturbance in the Islamic societies.
For these reasons, these devils on one hand are bombing us endlessly from Yemen, Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan and Pakistan and on the other hand are deploying their secret agents in our lands in the illusion of “aid”. From the imprisonment of your relatives to their martyrdom murder in a drone attack, your leadership is responsible for all these incidents, who is expert in proving truth as a lie and lie as a truth. All praise is due to Allah who brought good for your relatives from all this evil by blessing them with Islam and entered them amongst His loved ones.
We request the families of Uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad to study Islam, understand the call of mujahideen and accept the light of Islam instead of ignorance and darkness so that you may become worthy for the bounties of this world and the hereafter. This is the message of Uncle Ishaq (Warren Weinstein) for his family. It is the love of these martyrs for their families that compelled us to deliver there heartfelt message to you. The video of Uncle Ishaq regarding his acceptance of Islam will be released, by the will of Allah. May Allah make Uncle Ishaq and Brother Muhammad the mean of guidance for their families,Ameen.
وصلی اللہ تعالی علی خیر خلقہ محمد وآلہ وصحبہ أجمعین

Weinstein photographed allegedly praying as a revert to Islam

Following the release of the statement, Elaine Weinstein, widow of Warren was quoted in the New York Times as saying,

“we do not believe anything Al Qaeda is saying about Warren’s activities in captivity. As a captive, he was not free to make decisions on his own”

“Al Qaeda is a cowardly group, kidnapping old men who are helping others.”

Earlier this year the Guardian reported Elaine Weinstein criticizing the US government response to her husband’s kidnapping as “inconsistent and disappointing”, she said,

“we hope that my husband’s death and the others who have faced similar tragedies in recent months will finally prompt the US government to take its responsibilities seriously and establish a coordinated and consistent approach to supporting hostages and their families.”

US domestic “terrorism”: We need to talk about Dylann (Charleston Church shootings)

CHy3807VAAAMxu-

Dylann Roof fits criteria of an FBI “domestic terrorist”

Dylann Roof (age 21) described as a “white” male of Lexington, South Carolina sat amongst members of a Bible study group at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal church in Charleston, South Carolina before allegedly opening fire and killing 6 women and 3 men. The massacre of 9 black worshippers was linked to a young man who according to a photo described by blogger Judd Legum “appears to be wearing the flags of two African countries when they were ruled by whites.” Legum described that on Roof’s jacket, “on top was the Apartheid-era South Africa and below the flag of white-dominated Rhodesia, which is now known as Zimbabwe”. The incident was quickly labelled by many in America and beyond as a “hate crime”. As Max Abrahms, Terrorism Theorist at Northeastern University, US, tweeted,

Muslim perpetrator — Terrorism Other perpetrator — Hate crime

He also tweeted,

The more I learn about and the the more comfortable I am labeling the attack as .

The FBI defines domestic terrorism as follows:-

“Domestic terrorism” means activities with the following three characteristics:

  • Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
  • Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and
  • Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.

The attack appears to have been a pre-medicated “unofficial and unauthorized use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims” (another definition of terrorism). So how does Roof come under the FBI definition of terrorism?

1) He allegedly committed an act of extreme violence violating US laws, killing black attendees at a place of worship.

2) From a report in the New York Daily News, it appears Roof allegedly boasted that he planned to “kill a bunch of people on Wednesday” a week before the church attack. The publication also states,

“about an hour into the Bible study, he told the worshipers, “You have to go,” witnesses told Sylvia Johnson, the cousin of slain pastor Clementa C. Pinckney. “

“He just said ‘I have to do it.’ He said, ‘You rape our women, and you’re taking over our country,'” she said on MSNBC, recounting what survivors told her.

As Max Abrahms tweeted,

Friends & family of say they couldn’t see this coming–the apartheid jacket, pledge to massacre, gun practice etc not troubling?

Roof intimidated not only those at the Charleston church but the wider black community within the US already feeling discrimination following a series of unlawful killings by police. One of those Roof targeted was the Rev. Clementa Pinckney, a state senator who had spoken out on civil rights issues. What is significant also is that Roof stated that he choose to leave one person alive as a “witness” to recount the attack. The perpetrator of this violent act expressed his personal beliefs and gave his reasoning behind the slaughter to a person at the scene in an assault which was bound to attract a large amount of press attention and act as a media platform for Roof.

Max Abrahm again pointed out in a tweet,

#DylannRoof was reportedly “big into segregation” and “wanted to start a civil war” says his roommate .

3) Roof choose a religious institution used by the black community, a church within the US, one associated with a historic struggle against racism and of past and present political significance.

a) As CNN reported,

“The congregation first formed in 1791, a coalition of free blacks and slaves. At first they were members of Charleston’s Methodist Episcopal Church. But in 1816, they left their white counterparts in a dispute over burial grounds.”

b) In 1822 the church was torched. The congregation included a former slave Denmark Vesey who was executed along with 35 others suspected of involvement in a slave revolt.

c) The church was later rebuilt and operated in 1834 during a time “when all-black churches were outlawed by the state legislature” (CNN)

d) Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr an advocate for blacks opposing racism was known to have visited the church.

e) The Rev. Clementa Pinckney, one of Roof’s victims and also a state senator was known to have supported a bill on police reform “to make body cameras mandatory for all police officers in South Carolina” following the death of Walter Scott, an unarmed black man shot by police.

As Dara Lind pointed out in Vox, how we label an act of violence is important to many people, he stated,

“making the choice to call this a terrorist act is a way of recognizing the long history of anti-black terrorism in America. For most of American history, the word “terrorism” has referred to acts committed by white people against black people.

In fact, anti-black terrorism perpetrated by the Ku Klux Klan was the reason for the first federal anti-terrorism law the US ever passed.”

Those investigating the crime and those reporting should not be too swift to write off terrorist attacks such as that allegedly carried out by Dylan Roof of as those of a “lone wolf” or “loon wolf” (a phrase coined by Max Abrahms). Comments on social media in recent months have alluded to a wider collusion to kill blacks with actions that could be passed off as the work of individual “lone wolf” attacks. Other comments suggested that those prepared to “sacrifice” themselves committing such crimes would be elevated to hero status by some within US society as happened historically with the Ku Klux Klan.

v3-chapel-hill-victims-5

Was shooting 3 Muslims in Chapel Hill, North Carolina an act of terrorism?

The comments related to passing killings off as “lone wolf attacks” arose following the shooting of 3 young Muslims, Deah Shaddy Barakat (23) and his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha (21) and Yousor’s sister Raza Mohammad Abu-Salha (19) who were gunned down at an apartment block at Chapel Hill, North Carolina (US). The crime was linked to Craig Stephen Hicks (46) also of Chapel Hill who was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder after turning himself in without incident according to the Daily Mail. See my earlier article where I query whether this was a terrorist attack as follows,

“Recently wed couple and sister gunned down in North Carolina, was it a terrorist attack?”

https://activist1.wordpress.com/2015/02/11/recently-wed-couple-and-sister-gunned-down-in-north-carolina-was-it-a-terrorist-attack/

I encountered some of these social media racists and Islamophobes also during my recent writing on the Boston police shooting of Usaama Rahim where responses (which felt “organized”) ranged from name calling, racist jibes and references to pigs to suggesting some writers should be shot, see,

“Boston Police shooting: Case Update, terrorism and the vitriol of Islamophobia in US society”

https://activist1.wordpress.com/2015/06/04/boston-police-shooting-case-update-terrorism-and-the-vitriol-of-islamaphobia-in-us-society/

American citizens and authorities should be watchful and aware of the possibility that there could be sizeable organized outfits recruiting individuals to carry out what on the surface could appear to be acts carried out by loners but may be part of a much wider domestic “terrorist” network operating within the US. The signs to alert society to this possibility are already out there. A well- known work of fiction “We need to talk about Kevin” addressed the issues around a mother coming to terms with the fact that her son had massacred children and staff at a school in the US. We need to talk about Dylann is a warning to America that acts of domestic terrorism must not be relabelled, hidden or ignored.
