Mujahideen bring down US helicopter in country’s north
(Islamic Emirate statement)
PARWAN, May 31 – An unknown number of the US-Nato troop were killed when Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate shot down one of the enemy helicopter gunships late yesterday night in northern Afghanistan, Al-Emarah News said on Sunday.
The initial reports from the site of the attack showed that the helicopter downed by Mujahideen was involved in a mission to bomb out Mujahideen positions during an intense fighting in which Mujahideen had stormed a number of the enemy posts in Kohi Safi district of the province.
Witnesses at the site of the shooting down described seeing the helicopter burst into flames and break into pieces before falling from the sky and crashing.
The shooting down is the latest in a series of recent attacks amid “Operation Azm”, the spring offensives.
