TTP deny their men have been arrested for killing of Mehboobullah Jan
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) denied that their persons allegedly involved in recent beheading of police official Mehboobullah Jan in Medyan, Swat had been arrested.
On Monday, the Express Tribune reported that “the arrested men were identified as Izharuddin, resident of Bishigram and Bakhtawar Shah and Shahid, residents of Bar Durushkhela.” The media quoted DPO Akbar Khan saying,
“the accused, after confessing their crime, said they had stolen a motorbike from the deceased policeman who traced them after some time. Jan had been demanding compensation for his stolen motorbike so they killed him”
The Express Tribune reported that the “police also claimed to have seized the dagger which was used in the crime and some weapons which had been stolen from a police store.”
However the social media spokesperson for TTP presented a different version of events,
“this is not true because they (the alleged killers) are still in contact with us they are safe, nobody arrested by government. They are in contact with us and they are free.”
I asked had he checked if they were free since the article was written, the reply was,
“these people arrested are not those responsible, (checked) just 10 minutes ago when I was on the way”
When asked could the police possibly have the wrong men? The reply was,
“yes they are the innocent missing persons”
I asked why the special forces officer was killed. The reply was “the possibility should be that they killed the missing innocent persons from Swat valley.”
He also said that the way Mehboobullah Jan was killed “is secret” but did not wish to give details in public.
The TTP spokesperson then went on to highlight another recent incident in Karachi alleging the following, “the Rangers (forces of Pakistan) kill 7 innocents missing persons in Karachi, Pakistan just two days ago and claim encounter with terrorists”.
He pointed to a Facebook page of a young man, saying,
“he was a student of Engineering University in Karachi Pakistan, they killed him and claim a counter strike (fight), one of his friends is still missing. They want to show that they are winning the War on Terror. His name was Khalid Abdur Rahman son of Abdur Rahman. The missing one is Anwar Saeed. They were not the members of TTP, we came to know about them by our sources. There are hundreds of missing persons. who were killed by Pakistani Forces.”
